At the end of the day, who ever is in charge of which ever country, has to look after their own citizens and legal residents first. As long as people are aware there may be delays even for several years but their goals could be achieved then go for it but be informed on current country situations is a must.

I agree, We need to take care of US Citizens first.
I find this article to be typical double talk by Obama.
When Obama ran for President one of his policy is to give Illegal Aliens in USA driver Licenses.

This is probably double talk by Obama but he is keenly aware of the impending crisis in healthcare if nothing is done right away. The good news is that Obama and Congress is finally putting the right funding to increase access to nursing education of it's citizen and to hopefully increase the salaries and wages of nurses who wants to go into teaching. But even with the actions by the President and Congress, it will probably take a good ten years for it to bear fruit. Substantial increases in local nurses will probably not be felt in the forseable future until all the ingredients bind together. Currently, they still have to deal with impending retirement of the baby boomer generation. Secondly, there's not enough space in the classroom for future nurses and not enough teachers to teach them. Thirdly, so many new nurses quit after only a few years in the job. These are the immediate concerns that has to be answered by the President and Congress. There's no quick fixes here. A new bill is in Congress for 50,000 visa. Obama has express reservations but he will probably compromise after he realize that a looming crises is on the horizon. Hiring foreign nurses might be a temporary fix while the Unites States tries to increase access to education of it's own citizen. It might take years but it's very achievable. For the people that left the nursing profession, there's not a lot of evidence that they're coming back in droves. For them, working conditions are still deplorable and wages unacceptable. For the meantime, somebody gotta take care of their citizens and foreign nurses are willing and able to provide with love and care.

Pay the nurse educators what they deserve. Put americans to work first!! There are so many new grads unable to fill these positions because they want experience, train us so we can stay out of the system!!
