Hi all - the only small upside of COVID is that (since we've barely had kids in person) I am going to have money left in my budget! So I want to buy something to finally replace one of my "cots" - a rock-hard, 1950's era, perilously tall training table. I'm in a high school. I find that the typical cots that at School Nurse Supply etc are a bit narrow and short. I've been using a recliner in my other room (actually a geri chair that I bought used for a few bucks) and find it to be a lot more practical than cots. Now I want to upgrade to a real, non-used medical recliner. Does anyone have one that they like?
Or alternately, has anyone found cots that are more geared toward high school kids?

What about a dorm-style twin xlong bed & mattress? They're generally pretty light and easy to move. The covers of the mattresses are easy to clean, plus you could get a vinyl cover to go on top for extra protection. Get a couple of extra sets of sheets to put on it? Target usually has them on sale after the back to school rush for super cheap. At my Private school job, we just use a flat sheet to protect the bed and make it slightly more comfy, and change out the flat sheet in between patients. Wipe down the bed quickly in between too...

I think a recliner or geri chair would be perfect! I have a cot but my high school boys usually end up with either their feet hanging off the end or with their head and neck all curled up against the wall. It's not ideal. Thinking I would have need for more sick space, I purchased two waterproof fold-up camping cots over the Summer. I haven't used them yet because even with 50% of our kids on campus, it's been blessedly quiet in here this year. {Huge sigh of relief}
I need to see how much is left in my budget because I haven't spent much this year thanks to all the grants we received! I am thinking I would like to purchase an official stop the bleed kit.

I also have cots that are throwbacks to the Carter administration. They were apparently re-covered at some point in the last 20 years, so I can never get rid of them, per business office...
I like the idea of geri chairs. The would take up a lot less room and if absolute need be, you can transport a child out in case of building evacuation.
