Reciprocity

I was just wondering if RECIPROCITY is still being granted for inter-provincial nurses in Canada? (sorry i'm not even sure what it's really called) Does anyone know what requirements you would be asked in order to apply for it? I'm an RN in B.C. under CRNBC and I was curious about maybe working in say.. Alberta or Mannitoba. I'm also an IEN btw so that kind of maybe complicates things? Would I be required to take the CRNE all over again? or would I be required to take some kind of english exam since mine pretty much expired a looong time ago.. I'm thinking though that other provinces might ask that I take a refresher course and I wouldn't mind that but I'm more concerned about the whole having to take the CRNE all over again. Does anyone know?

Sorry if I'm posting a new thread that quite possibly has already been asked but I've been sifting through the older posts and so far haven't really found anything..

The fact that you're an IEN does definitely complicate things. You only have to write the CRNE once, if you pass. That's a for-sure. But whether your other credentials would be accepted as-is or not is not clear. There is reciprocity between the provinces for nurses educated in Canada, but I expect that the provincial assessment of IEN qualifications would still extend to those licensed in another province. The best way to find out would be to contact the Colleges of Nursing in those provinces and ask the registrar's office. https://allnurses.com/canadian-nurses/links-provincial-colleges-303171.html

I can tell you that you will not find a job in Alberta for the foreseeable future, since they aren't even hiring locally educated nurses but you might get lucky in Manitoba. http://www.gov.mb.ca/health/nurses/ When I ws there in December they were still actively looking for nurses.

Hi, i have question regarding the reciprocity in CRNE in novascotia. I'm a Filipino IEN and I am currently applying for a registration in NS if i will pass the examination in NS can i get a reciprocity to different province right away or do i need to practice my profession in NS for a certain number of hours. i have somebody can address my concern. thank you

If you aren't planning on working in NS why did you apply for tht province?

CNRE is a national exam, but every province that you apply for a permit in will assess your education and decide if you education fits their requirements, regardless if you have passed CNRE.

I agree why apply to NS if you don't plan on working there? You still have to be assessed by the province you move to and pay all the fees so just more money because it isn't any cheaper if you have passed CRNE
