Really Stupid Question (sorry!)

In my orientation last Friday, they told us we would need a "Pen Light" for clinical... Is that a penlight as in a little miniature flashlight or do they mean a ball point pen with a light (so you can write in the dark?)

Honest, I swear I am an intelligent student:chuckle

I assume one like a mini flashlite for checking pupil reaction. Most hospitals are lighted pretty well.....lol

I apologize, Ann.

ann this is the pen light that you will need. http://www.emssupply.com/penlight.htm the pen light to write in the dark is helpful when the lights go out, tho.

amblessing.....they mean for you to purchase yourself a penlight. You can find them in a nursing supply store where you get your uniforms, etc. Most are white or silver in color.....they could have added other colors since my time, but the main thing is to purchase a nursing penlight for your clinicals. They are used mostly to assess the patients pupil size. Good luck to you all in your classes and clinicals this year. :kiss :nurse:

Mimi flashlight!

P.S. No question is stupid!

i am sorry, ann.

well silly me, i used my pen light to look in my sons throat last friday and i did find something !!

i must say it was pretty cool to be able to do that !!

didn't know that you had to take the plastic shield off first, but i quickly realized it..lol.. ;)

I've had to buy 3 penlights! My kids keep getting ahold of them and they disappear! LOL!

PS....( I have a pen with a light on it, supposedly to write in the dark....I just play with it!)
