rate of pay changed after training

I was hired as a prn home health lvn at a hourly rate.About two weeks into my training I received a call from the DON.DON stated she misunderstood prn pay and the rate of pay would be $25 an hour. I figure with driving time my pay would be decreased per visit by $10 each visit I make.I let them knowI had reconsidered the job offer and felt the pay rate was very low.I live in DFW area. How much do other LVN nurses make that are prn?I have a full time three 12 shifts so I don't need another job but was wanting the flexibility to earn some extra cash.

What about private duty nursing? I'm also in the Dallas area. It's not stressful most of the time and you only had one client for a 8 or 12 hour shift. Pay is 22.00 to 27.00 per hour.

I wasn't wanting another 8-12 shift time wise.Just wanted a couple of visits near me that I could do while my kids are at school.I have heard from other nurses that per visit rate ranges from $29-$40.

You are right. Per visit rate anywhere should be more than $25/visit. Wondered why you stated $25/hour in the OP. Even that is low if you are an RN.

sorry. caliotter3. i just read my entry and it should have said intial told $22 an hour and changed to $25 per visit.sorry for the confusion.I am a LVN not a RN.

If you are an LVN, then $25 a visit is low, but acceptable, depending on a lot. Most of the time LVN per visit pay is at least $30 or $35/visit.
