  1. How devastating! So sorry to hear that! Prayers to all those who lost love ones!
  2. sorry. caliotter3. i just read my entry and it should have said intial told $22 an hour and changed to $25 per visit.sorry for the confusion.I am a LVN not a RN.
  3. I wasn't wanting another 8-12 shift time wise.Just wanted a couple of visits near me that I could do while my kids are at school.I have heard from other nurses that per visit rate ranges from $29-$40.
  4. I was hired as a prn home health lvn at a hourly rate.About two weeks into my training I received a call from the DON.DON stated she misunderstood prn pay and the rate of pay would be $25 an hour. I figure with driving time my pay would be decreased per visit by $10 each visit I make.I let them knowI had reconsidered the job offer and felt the pay rate was very low.I live in DFW area. How much do other LVN nurses make that are prn?I have a full time three 12 shifts so I don't need another job but was wanting the flexibility to earn some extra cash.
  5. whats the issue?can they hear the pulse well or is that the issue?
  6. I live in the DFW area.Graduated LVN program 8/14'. My first job as a new nurse paid me $22.50 as a rehab. nurse. Students I graduated with have told me their first job rates are $18-$19 a hour in home health and long term care.
  7. ok.thanks glad to hear that!
  8. facility may allow but it was my understanding that the BON states we have to have a RN available which since we are LVNs which we do not.
  9. I am concerned because we have no RN on duty Mon.-Fri. during the day.We had two different DONs leave and have had two plus weeks without any RN.I thought LVNs must work under a RN but there is not one.I am thinking of quitting because I dont want to lose my license or get into trouble.Any thoughts?
  10. Ditto to Alisonisayoshi!
  11. so far in the last seven months i have lost out on 5 shifts but picked up 6 overtime shifts.so i am still ahead.
  12. Congrates!! I too went to school with three boys at home but do have a great husband who supported me.We made it through partly with school loans but i alsohad those who didnt think i could do it.It was a challenge but that made the reward even sweeter!
  13. I have rehab and LTC pts.Typically have 22-25 pts. I need a brain sheet that holds 10-12 pts. on a page.Anyone have one?
  14. if you read the BON under new grads it states there is no rule forbiding a new nurse from doing home health but suggest nurses have a year of experience first .also states in so many words if you screw up dont think you being a new nurse will save you.so the BON is doing everything they can to tell new nurses it is not a good idea.i couldnt imagine being a new nurse on your own,no one there to double check with or ask advice without constantly calling your supervisor which is not realistic.Vent patients is not where you should start as a nurse.start with ltc where you have more stable patients.I would not take a chance with my license after working so hard to get it!!
  15. i work with several graduates of that program.i do believe employers prefer graduates from accredited good standing schools with high pass rates.$30,000 is crazy for that school.i recommend grayson college or el centro.tuition is around $8,000.
