Ramp

My cousin got a dwi in nj and may be referred to the ramp program. Will she lose her hospital job if this happens?? She needs to keep her career to live but made a devastating mistake! Help!

One of the mods will soon move your post to the recovery forum, for better info/more replies. I don't know a lot of RAMP, but most states will require participation in a 'voluntary' drug/alcohol monitoring program. In some areas, if your cousin (SWIM??? haven't seen that in awhile) but if refuses to do voluntary program, license could have action taken upon it or suspended/revoked for non-compliance. hence the 'voluntary' quotes.

I'm sure your cousin has found the website linked above online? Many programs require cessation from nursing practice for a brief time, but that does not mean the hospital would not keep her on in some capacity. And also be willing to re-instate her to previous nurse position once the program allows for that. Just depends on her work relationship with manager, supervisors up the chain etc.

Others will chime in soon, I'm sure.

Good luck & welcome to AN!!!

Only your cousin's employer can answer your question.

Cute...she does not want to post on a public forum. I'm an office manager, nice try though. She has already obtained a lawyer. Thank you for your input.
