what r u using instead of seconal?

I was just wondering what meds you all are using for sedation/sleep meds since seconal is no more.

Featured Replies

We use ambien or restoril.

Also use ambien, 10 mg.

Thanks all. I assume you knew I was referring to preggo ladies since I posted in this area right?? We actually are just now down to our last seconal. I know many have been without it for a long time.

WONDERFUL ambien 10 mg

We have given Seconal 100mg with 10mg of morphine.

Or Nubaine 10mg for sleep but those are all one time doses, not given every night.

e haven't had seconal for almost 6 months now. We use restoril.

Ambien 5-10 mg po qHS

Ambien 10mg or Vistaril 50-100mg

on preggies, we use Vistaril, anywhere from 25 to 100 mg. works pretty well. Some may use Bendryl, 25-50 mg also. Considered relatively safe.

i work i ob too, and we use 5 or 10 mg AMbien....

ambien seems to be the drug of choice for the non laboring pt. we give morphine and vistaril for "prodromal" labors.
