Sep 22, 20196 yr We just usually hang a NS flush bag and low port the potassium in so it's diluted. Sorry it doesn't answer your original question, but it's another option.

Sep 22, 20196 yr There used to a practice of adding lidocaine to the bag, although that's fallen out of favor due to safety issues.Buffering the KCL isn't going to help much since it isn't all that acidic, peripheral concentrations typically has a pH of 5.5 which is about the same as NS.
