75 questions second time around

I just took my nclex for the second time this past Monday. I got 265 questions the first time and failed and 75 questions the second time. I was feeling a little more positive this time until I checked the CA BRN website this morning and my name was not on it. Anyone else have to wait more than three days for their name to appear on the website after the second time around??? I don't want to believe that I failed but I know it usually only takes three days for your name to appear.

Give it a bit more time. Honestly, it sounds like you NAILED it this time...265 questions the first time meant that you were always hovering around the pass/fail mark, and ultimately slipped into the 'fail' category. In order to fail at 75 questions, you'd have to go down in fiery flames (the idea being that the computer has decided that no matter HOW many more questions you get, you are so far below the passing standard that you were recognized to NOT pass even if you got all 265.

What's the likelihood that the first time through you were close and failed and the NEXT time, after much more studying, you were incompetent at the bare minimum? Not high. It looks good for you.

Hang in there :)

thanks so much for the vote of confidence. I am still pretty bummed but am keeping an open mind that maybe tomorrow my name will appear. I didnt get any math questions or any recall questions...I got mostly drugs and prioritizing questions. Hopefully this means I was given higher end questions and I did well.

I'll keep you all posted.

Good luck in San Diego....thats where I took it as well!!!

hi! i hope that you nailed it! seems like most of those who got a lot of drugs and prioritization stopped at 75q....i hope it goes for you too! good luck.keep us posted please. i'd like to find out if this seems a trend in the exam..

Oh, thank you for saying this! I hadn't thought about it that way.

I took the PN exam today, and it shut off at 85. Some priority, at least 20 meds that I have never heard of and couldn't even figure out what class they were in. No context to give hints in the question, nothing. Frustrating.

Then I came home and kept looking up questions and discovering I put the wrong answer.

I thought I would feel more confident after the test. I did well in school, pretty well with the Kaplan Q-Bank, and have been getting 99% probability of passing with the Mosby CAT, but the possibility of my not passing seems very real.

This helps though - thanks.

You sound like you're in good shape for a PASS as well! For what it's worth, the questions that gave you the hardest time are the ones you remember most, and naturally those are the ones you find you probably didn't get right. I say PROBABLY because I remember doing that on a school exam, looking something up later and cursing myself for getting it wrong....only to get the exam back and realize I HAD put the correct answer (I'd just argued with myself so much before settling I hadn't remembered WHAT I'd put)!

Think positive thoughts, it looks good for you :)

Thank you for the vote of confidence. My mom said the same thing about taking the BAR exam - your mind tends to stick on the questions you're not sure about, so it colors your perception and you think you scored worse than you actually did.

sdqt44 - congratulations on passing!!
