You'd need to check with local colleges and determine who offers nursing programs. RN licensure/entry to practice currently occurs at either the ASN, BSN or MSN levels. There are accelerated BSN programs, BSN programs for students with prior degrees, entry MSN programs - it really all depends on the setup of the schools in your area.

One of the big questions these days is not so much how long it takes to finish, but how long it can take to get in. Admission to any nursing program can be tough given the limited numbers of spaces.

I also have a Bachelors and it is really hard to get into a program. I have applied to two community colleges in Minesota and was denied entrance. The problems is that many schools have priorities over their own students. So, be careful because you can end up taking courses in on college or university and work hard but will not be able to get into any other programs. 3 of the community colleges that I have looked into applying do have a priority for their own students. In two of those you need to take at least 12 credits and more to have priority.

In Michigan they have an 2nd degree option, which means if you hold a bachelors degree in anything you can do an accelerated nursing program-meaning you can become an RN in one year. But I can you have to make sure you still have all the co & pre-reqs (ie. sciences).

I find it difficult to believe that someone can acquire enough clinical hours in one year to then practice! Just call me old-fashioned....

It depends on the school.

The school I went to...if I was a full time student, I could finish it in one year.

Including clinical rotation in Med-Surg 1, Psyh, Ped, and Med-Surg 2.
