Questions about Excelsior

I have tried that route. I am the type of person that needs classroom instruction. I found at home, there where alot of distractions. I think you should evaluate which is the best way that you learn things, is it class room with instructor, or studying a book without lectures. Depending on the schools, i know i looked into the one your thinking about, you have to pay a test cener, ie sullivan learning centers, to take exams, for the english part of your studies, i had to write a paper and send it of to a professor, and pay him money to read it and grade it it was about 300 dollars for him to read and grade it. I would just rather set up work around my school, sit in class, and have no distraction around me. I will hopefully be starting classes for my RN, in January.

hey is anyone taking the excelsior route? i am a new lpn in virginia. i have started working on my pre-reqs to become a rn the traditional route. now i am second guessing that and thinking that excelsior might be the better option for me. if i could just get some feedback from anyone that is already enrolled that would be great. thanks so much in advance to everyone.

hi -- i'm just finishing up my adn at excelsior.. passed the cpne last weekend in albany. still have to complete the 1 credit info literacy course though - ugh! anyway, i just wanted to say that excelsior has made becoming rn possible for a few ppl i know... mostly paramedics including myself. the flexibility of the program is the best and worst part imo. i took nc1 in march 2004, nc 2 a year later... a snail's pace for sure. then i had to actually enroll in the program to take nc3, so i figured i'd pick up the pace... was able to knock out nc3-nc7 + a&p in about 3 months. didn't get all "a"s but had a b+ average. just shows that as long as you can motivate yourself, excelsior is an affordable and relatively quick means to your rn... just don't be like my cousin who registered in 2003 and is still studying for his first exam... lol
