Hi I am a home care pediatric nurse. I have my first vent patient and she is complicated even for a vent patient. Last night she had horrendous gas. could the gas be related a some leakage around the trach from the vent? thanks

While not for yourself or a family member, this is asking for medical advice which we cannot provide per TOS. Without the ability to assess the patient, how could anyone on the internet (who you cannot prove is a nurse or even in the medical field) provide any type of diagnosis/insight?

Our Tracheostomy and Vent Information sticky thread at bottom of this forum offers great links to learn how to care for vented patients including handling complications.
