Question regarding cpne

Published

I am almost done with my nursing concept exams, and I should be done in about 2 months. I was wondering if any one thinks that I should try to get a job in the hospital to prepare for the cpne. I am unsure if I will be able to get a job In the hospital related to my home care experience. It would also be like a 5 dollar an hour pay cut. It might be worth the sacrifice though. I have been doing home care for the past 3 years, and I love it! I did however do rehab nsg when I first graduated nursing school. Thanks for any input!

I don't think it's necessary. Your evaluator for each pt care scenario orients you to all of the equipment and shows you where things are located on the floor. You write your care plan, do your assigned areas of care, evaluate your care plan and document your assessments and treatments.

I hope medic2 is right ,,,,makes it sound easy. I looked at the pass rate its only about 68% and browsed he cd they send you. I was contemplating quitting for a couple of months. I got all my concept tests out of the way. Now I am thinking the same thing...I have been out of acute care and med surg for about 30 years, and feel like I would be lost in a hospital today. I think I lack more confidence even more than when i first graduated. It seems like next to impossible to find a job in my area..sacramento calif...seems saturated from what I have read on posts here. I guess my best bet is finding any kind of job to pay for the workshops EC offers..think about 800 bucks a workshop. It seems like even Rns are having a hard time finding a job in this area. Thanks for the posts on this topic..

Why are you doing Excelsior in California? The California BON will not license yu as an RN with an Excelsior diploma even if you pass the boards.

the question what is someone from calif doing with EC..? I get distracted very easy., not very well disciplined. I started EC ,,,,,,,would you believe in 2003. I wont go into details about all the distractions, but I enrolled before the cutoff point, to make a long story short. I have be carefull now , there is a time limit and mine runs out in 2009, so please,LIFE dont bring me any distractions. Its an expensive delay, each added year brings on a 300+ yearly fee, on top of the test fees and book fees. As I read more posts I see the number of states that dont accept EC is growing. I think Calif was the first to reject EC grads.I think Texas solution was more common sense..think they require EC students to have externship before they graduate.

Then get on it! Get the money together for the workshop, dude.
