When I took mine yesterday, there was a question on there about what should be done when someone who follows Scientology dies.
I had no clue and had to guess at the answer that seemed to make sense to me, that they wouldn't want an autopsy.
The other options were, wrapping in a shroud, spouse pronounces death, and family members taking care of cleaning the body up.
Anybody know more that can help me figure out if I got it right or not?

Well, from my knowledge of religions, I believe that you answered correctly. I know that I'm not in nursing school yet, but I've been doing NCLEX practice questions - yes, I know that's putting the horse before the cart but someone said that you can't start too soon.
Anyhow, as I said, you answered correctly. I haven't heard of any Christian Scientists wrapping a body in a shroud or a spouse pronoucing death, and I know that some Mormons and middle East religions partake in the practice of cleaning the body up after death.
If this was not one of those "answer the most that would apply", not asking for an autopsy would coincide with Christian Science beliefs. I believe that CS expouse the use of prayer and seek out church leaders instead of doctors in taking care of the sick.
If anyone knows for sure, I'm curious about the answer now. :)
I do hope I was of a little help.

Maybe Tom can answer this one for us. He answered all my questions about psychiatry.

Christian Science and Scientology are two different practices.
I have no idea what the answer to your question is - except in real life you would ask the family and not guess. I hate NCLEX questions.
Good luck by the way.

Oops! Thanks Steph for noticing my error. And the whole time I was making that post I was thinking, "Don't confuse CS with Scientology"... D'oh!
But don't you think that the answer would be the same? Given Tom Cruise's remarks lately, you think that they'd be pretty hands off when it comes to medicine.

Think a moment over what they presented you with.
1. All patients get wrapped in some type of shroud for transportation to the funeral home.
2. Family members are unable to pronounce the death, it must be a medical officer in most states.
3. The cleansing rituals, if used, are usually done at the funeral home.
Hope that this helps................. :)
Thanks everyone, that question has just stuck in my mind.
