Question for OK Nurses

I work at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa (currently a CNA and in school for LPN). There aren't a huge amount of LPN positions available, but there are some. As a LPN student I keep a close eye on the openings available. If you have 2 years of hospital experience you can work as a float nurse for them, sometimes they have IV team openings as well. They also own Franciscan Villa, an assisted living facility and usually have openings there. I know a couple of the floors are trying to go to team nursing where they will have 1 RN, 1 LPN, and 1 CNA on a team and take 6-8 patients per team. And if they decide to go this route they will need more LPNs. The website is http://www.sjmc.com/ The hospital is also planning to offer an in-house LPN-RN bridge program next fall through Tulsa Community College if you have the prereq's and would be interested in that. It's going to be on Saturday's and will be offered all on campus except for a few outside clinicals.

I had a nurse tell me that one time and I asked her why she would split it and she said it didn't make sense for her to get all the money just for telling people she liked her job when I was the one who would be doing the work. As Lana says, St. John is a great place to work and it's in a very nice section of town - midtown Tulsa. St. Franics is south of the city and it's a nice place to work as well. Tulsa Regional is an intercity hospital right downtown and is owned by Hillcrest Medical Center. Hillcrest is on the edge of the not-so-good part of town but it's also a good place to work. I looked at the employment notices on the board yesterday and they are currently have several LPN openings. One in the burn unit for certain, as well as med-surge. Can't remember the rest, but there were several.

I live very close to Franciscan Villa (in fact, our home backs up to their property line). It's a very nice LTC out in the country. As Lana said, it's owned by St. John and at this LTC, from what I understand they take care of their people and pay them decent wages. I think it'd be a great place to work if you like LTC. And it is really in a pretty country setting. My husband's grandmother is currently there, I take her on walks around the property (they have a little lake w/ geese), and it's really nice this time of year.

Muskogee has it's own regional health center, Muskogee Regional Health. If you want to learn more about them go to http://www.muskogeehealth.com. I don't know much about them as I haven't been to Muskogee too much.
