Most facilities consider 32h full time, so if you work 3 12s you'd be full time. Some places will require you to do an 8h shift to get 40h, but that has to do with staffing, not full time status.

Where I worked, if I worked over 12h, that was considered OT. I guess again it depends on the facility. Where I work now, you don't get OT until you go over 40h.

Where I work 3 12's is considered full time. My 12 hour shifts normally end up being about 12.5 - 13 hour shifts. So usually I get almost 40 hours in per week. At my facility anything over 12 hours a day is overtime, and anything over 40 hours a week is overtime. Overtime pay is time-and-a-half. Hope this helps.

I just had a question about the shifts that nurses work. I know a lot of nurses work 12 hour shifts. If you are doing this then you either work three or four 12 hour shifts each week correct? So if you are only working 3, (36) hours then you are not a full time employee, is that correct? But if you work four then that is kind of a lot of hours for some people. My other question is do you get over time for working 12 hour shifts, or do you only get over time for working over 40 hours in a week? Can someone please let me know. Any imput would be greatly appreciated.
