My LPN program consisted of PVR 1 and 2, Anatomy and Physiology, Basic Nursing, Medical Terminology, Med-Sur 1 & 2, Nutrition, Maternal/Child Health, and Gerontology. We also did clinical rotations at Long Term Care Facility, 2 different hospitals and rotations in other places like Head Start (Pre school kind of in PA where I'm from) Adult Day Care and A day center for the mentally challenged.

In addition to the above, our clinicals also included a day in a drug rehab facility, HIV house, psych unit. Pharmacology was another course that we also did.

Thank you so much for the replies this gives me some idea about what to expect.

In my part of the world, the PN education is the old two year RN diploma including the university level English, Psych, and Sociology courses.

Expect long days and homework. Expect to see up to 25% of your starting class "disappear" before graduation.

Don't go in with the attitude "I'm never going to be a nurse like ....". There is always a nurse on a placement that will drive you mad with her attitude. I met a few on my placements and after going back and working on their units I discovered that the weren't mean, bitter or twisted. Just overworked and had lives outside the hospital.
