Question on licience in NJ?

Published

Can someone clear something up for me having a one of those moments where the more you read the more confused you get LOL!!!

As an international UK educated nurse if you get CES from cgfns, then apply to sit licience by examination in Vermont, pass nclex and get your liceince in vermont, can you then apply to New Jersey for a NJ nursing licience? Or because NJ requires cgfns to allow international nurses to sit nclex in NJ would I still need to do cgfns exam even though I am licienced in another state?

Many thanks guys.

Rsmit, Best source for that info would be NJ board's website and their procedures for application for licensure by endorsement.

Yup thats what I thought but the NJ BON site says nothing about international nurses applying for a liceince once licienced in another state. The application pack for applying for liceince by endorsement again does not mention international students. Whereas the PA endorsement pack actually says international nurses can endorse to them.

Then this link threw me altogther which to me reads that NJ has tabled and adopted an amendment to its laws which mean cgfns exam is not required..

http://www.state.nj.us/lps/ca/adoption/nurado51.htm

But I know you need cgfns exam for NJ because everyone I have spoken to says you have to.

Im confused!!

Currently, NJ requires the CGFNS exam, and you cannot endorse to there without it. That si for right now. There has been some talk around that they may make some changes. There are only a couple of states left that still require the CGFNS exam, even if you are endorsing. NJ is still one of them.

the link that rutihie posted above states that an amendment just went into effect a couple of weeks ago, but until they change the rest of their website, i would get it verified from them.

there was talk of it for some time, but it just became effective. and until anything becomes effective, it does not exist.

please again, use a color that i can easily read.

I just read the Amendments and it says that they went into effect just a few weeks ago. But the main part of their website has not changed. I would get it verified with them, just to be sure.

They are going to require the CES, just like Illinois does.

Specializes in Vents, Telemetry, Home Care, Home infusion.

NJ has changed their regs as they are becoming part of compact states. They are very slow to change main website.

Good luck to all who want to practice there...lots of hospitals to choose!
