I'm moving this post to its own thread so it doesn't get lost in the other one. :) Check out the "primer" thread at the top of the International forum to see if your question is answered there.

I think Illinois needs a 2 years of experience before you can endorse your license to them...

you are referring to licensure by endorsement from ca to il.

for internationally educated nurses, il requires a ces report from cgfns and a toefl test result. here is the link: http://www.idfpr.com/dpr/apply/forms/cgfns_02.pdf

i understand from suzanne that the 2 years work experience requirement for licensure in il has been removed and no longer applies.

il requires fingerprint checking. if you are outside the us, you have to request for a fingerprint card.

the detailed instructions can all be found in the registered nurse application packet which you can either download from the website or email il to send you a copy thru mail.

You cannot immediately endorse from CA to Illinois. The biggest issue is that you will not even receive a license until you provide CA BRN with a SSN#, so on a technical note, you will not hold a license that can be endorsed until you are in the US.

And currently, Illinois requires TOEFL exam, unless they have accepted the IELTS in the last week or two. And you will also need to complete the CES, done by CGFNS.

Licenses get endorsed, they do not transfer. And with CA, you will not have anything that can be endorsed.

Hi Suzanne,

Hi Can you advice me on what to do next? I'm stuck in this situation. I passed my NCLEX-RN in CALIFORNIA and you are right I dont have a license. Now its hard to find a US Sponsor to process our papers from the Philippines. What would I do next? There are lots of agencies out there and I know a lot are bad. Are there hospital that would sponsor me directly in California. Ei Suzanne and guys out there I really need your help! Thanks

where are you now? are you backin the Phils or still here in the states?
