Just have a question to everyone who already work as a nurse. I'm getting ready to take my pre-reques starting aug 17. I will take a year to finish them. I'm already a CNA, but I work in home health so it's not difficult at all. I have a ?wonderful patient and my work is simple.
The thing that worry me about nursing is the amount of time a nurse stands. I am a 6foot woman 167lbs with a thin frame. My problem is that I have flat feet (totally flat) no arch at all. When I stand for long periods of time my lower back kills me and my feet hurt. I usually wear men sneakers being that my size shoe is 13 in women (yea I know) and 10 1/2 in men.
How do you other nurses deal with standing for for long periods of time on your feet? Do you ever get use to it? Do you know of any places that sell comfortable shoes in my size? My dream job would be in public health, which I hear is less strenuous, however I know you have to put in some time before you could find that dream job that isn't sooo physical demanding. If I can control my feet from hurting It'll be great!
