Hello, I am currently a first year student studying nursing in the Philippines. I plan to take the NCLEX in California after I graduate with a BSN. Since I am already a U.S citizen, what kind of processes shall I go through? Will I have to take extra classes before I become admitted to take the NCLEX? Thanks for your time!

The process is described ad nauseum here and on the CGFNS website etc. As a USC you will have a SSN that CA requires, but you're obviously still going to be a foreign trained nurse. You won't need a Visa Screen certificate as a USC.

You just have to meet all the requirements of a foreign educated nursing graduate required by California Board of Nursing. http://www.rn.ca.gov
At the moment, California has the fewest requirement in licensing that's why many Filipinos are applying in California. In your case, that you are an USC, you don't have to take the Phil NLE so you will just be submitting to CA BON your transcript. I just don't know if you will be required to have your fingerprint because you are USC.

I believe fingerprints will be required by all applicants. Whether you have to take NLE is up to the BRN we have had some members post they didn't but others state they did. You will need to submit something to indicate why you haven't sat NLE
Suggest a good read in this forum as much has already been written about CA as indicated in a previous post

All applicants for LVN & RN are required to be fingerprinted, it doesn't matter if you're a citizen or not. Nurses who were licensed before fingerprints were required are now having to go have their fingerprints when they renew.
