Hello everyone, I have a question regarding the prophecy exam. Basically how hard is this test? I plan to do some review but reading up on the test, I find that it is timed. I am a particularly slow test taker so it has me worried. I plan to speak with my agency on monday to find out more details. Like how many times I can retake it. This test is giving me a bunch of anxiety, particularly because I accepted this assignment (my first), and already gave my staff job 2 weeks notice. I am taking the general medsurge test, pharmacology, and a few others related to OSHA and the like. I realize these tests are becoming the norm, just not something I am looking forward to.
Thanks you.

I just took the labor and delivery test and it wasn't super hard. However, I have horrible test anxiety and as soon as I saw it was timed I started freaking out. I passed but barely so I have an email into my recruiter to see if I can retake it. I did run out of time and I had 2 questions left. I should have reviewed a little but I didn't. Good luck to you!!!

The timed tests are a bit disconcerting, but they are not rocket science. Depending your specialty, the Pharmacology test is the most fear-inducing (I'm highly specialized, so when I was asked a question about specifics of certain antihistamines, I was all "...uhhh, durp, ummm, well I haven't a clue. So OK, I think "C" looks the most correct. Click. Next.") :)
Even at that, I passed Pharm at >90%. Bring your calculator, some scratch paper, and practice a few drip rate questions and conversions. It's really not that bad at all. Definitely be comfortable with converting desired dose from the available dose. Basically they just want to know that you will not pull out a vial of 30 ml 1,000u/ml heparin and administer the whole bottle.
Deep breath. You'll do fine. It's just not that bad. My agency (a reputable one) said that had I not passed, I still would have been given a couple more shots to pass.
The clinical proficiency exam questions were mostly very basic, common sense.
The Osha stuff is stuff you already know.
Thanks for the info. I feel better now and will start doing them tonight. I spoke with my agency and they said I can take it as many times as I need.

I just received a request to take three of these exams. At first, I thought it might be a scam because it offered a $10.00 pre-test. But, after logging in, you can click on each test and they will give you a course outline of what to expect on each test.
Some exams have provided a PDF outline for both the Dysrhythmia (advanced) test and Med/Surg test so you can study beforehand. It was a very basic outline that listed the subjects of what would be covered on the exam. Unfortunately, it wasn't a study guide. It was a list of what to go study in my old nursing books!
For example, it says:
AV heart blocks
1st degree
2nd degree-- Mobitz 1
2nd degree-- Mobitz 2
3rd degree
The website said each company decides if you get a make up exam or not. Also, it said you will see what you got wrong after the exam, unless you got a 60% or less. Hope this helps.

Is this for your agency or is it for a specific hospital? I haven't heard of this test.

Prophecy (formerly nursetesting.com) is a third party service. Both hospitals and agencies are clients.
