  1. I would contact an attorney ASAP. This almost sounds like wrongful termination. I have a DON that wrote me up and threatened to terminate me because I was absent too much because she wouldn't accommodate my MDs requested days I needed to work. I complained to HR and she put me on the schedule on my days off to make it look as if I no called no showed. I had a copy of the schedule and showed her I was not on. I call and letter to the hospital from my attorney stopped that nonsense...at least for now. If you have a copy of your schedule that would help. The nursing home has to have some type of HR and I may not be st your facility but maybe at the corporate level. I'm not sure if you had your notice in they can fire you. At least in Texas they cannot. Trust me when I say get an attorney now. Good luck
  2. Oh I know the feeling! Geriatric psych with the same issues! I even had to use a Safe harbor but it did nothing for staffing ratios!! Don't get me started about the boards either! Let me know what your plans are after. I may follow in your footsteps!
  3. I had some minor stipulations on my license in Texas and I hadn't finished them. I met and moved to Colorado to be married. I had to transfer the stops there and they added peer assistance to the stipulations in Colorado. I went without working for three months while they figured out what they were going to do with me since they never had something like this. Things got real bad and I ended up breaking it off with my fiancee earlier than the year I had to complete there. I just couldn't afford to live without be able to work, who could? In addition Ialso could not work there because of the stipulations being part of peer assistance so I was labeled with a drug or alcohol problem when the stipulation was due to my disability. . I was told since I could not complete the program, I could relinquish my license in Colorado and move back to complete the remaining portion of my order. I am one evaluation away from finishing it and have been compliant with the original Texas order. Now Colorado's process is to suspend my license for non compliance because I elected to move back to a state that could offer me employment. The license has been relinquished but the suspension was reported to the board in Texas. Is there anything I can do? I never thought the board would look so harsh on a medical illness that is under control. I feel like nursing has been the biggest mistake
  4. Do you ever have regrets about this field? Specifically for new nurses, how different is what they taught you in school from your first year? If what is happening during that year was a precursor to a lifetime of that would you stay? For the mid level or seasoned nurses do you ever feel like leaving this field for good? What would you do for peace of mind? Thanks.
  5. So what if they violate your ADA rights? What if they reprimand you for a disability that they knew about since day one? Complain then?
  6. Thank you. I went through 2 evaluations, one I paid for the other from peer assistance. Both agreed that I do not have any mental health disorders. They have both evaluations, so I am really a little taken a back by this. Feel like a prisoner.
  7. I am pretty dumbfounded at the events that happened to me and wanted to bounce this off other nurses to get some assistance. I have a disability, well controlled epilepsy. I have not had one since 2013 and only had 2 that year. I had a complaint from and did not fight it with the board in the state I lived in. Naive I know so I have stips for one year. I moved to another state and finally got my license, found a job etc. Agreed to be monitored, thinking it would be a PCP and/or Neurologist for med compliance and such with peer assistance otherwise my license would not be approved. Single state during stips. I agreed because I never envisioned the following form peer assistance. No drugs,(don't use never have) alcohol, (no problem can't even have a glass of wine on my birthday) mandatory random screens for one year calling in daily but here is the kicker. I cannot leave the state without written permission. Say what? What crime did I commit? I asked my case manager why since really this program focuses on addictions, not medical, and was told "that is our policy, you signed the agreement and if I want to have my license, I would have to sign the contract, otherwise I am non compliant. Yet the board allows those who have drug and alcohol DUI's, addictions to practice free and clear. Is this how a person is treated with a disability nowadays? Thoughts? Thanks!
