  1. The "hypothetical" part was specifically if you scored an 87, would you be happy with that score or try to improve it? Which is why I phrased it exactly the way that I did and did NOT say that the entire situation was hypothetical. Also, I have called my school advisor and she said she's having a meeting today about this specific subject, and that she would get back to me. I'm not the one who doesn't have a frame of reference- it's my school- because as I said in my post (did you even read it?) this is my schools first year using the teas as a ranking system. So don't assume that someone hasn't already exhausted all their options for gathering information before you go off on them via the internet because you don't have anything better to do. You also assume that I don't already understand that anecdotes or requirements/averages of other schools will not guarantee anything for me- Yes, I am fully aware of this, but that doesn't stop me from wondering what's going on in other places. If you're so annoyed and put out by my post, move along. I'm honestly kind of amused that my perfectly reasonable question (which was: what is the average score of accepted applicants for ADN programs at your school?... since you apparently didn't comprehend my post...) annoyed you so much that you couldn't help but lash out. Good job, you're really going places.
  2. Great advice, thank you!! Unfortunately my school has just switched to using the TEAS for ranking applicants, and I'm in the first group í ½í¹ˆ So as far as I know they have no frame of reference for what the average scores will be or what they're accepting. I did email my nursing advisor to ask her what she thinks- if it would be worth the trouble to retake it. Maybe she can shed some light on the matter in terms of average acceptance scores for our area with comparable programs. Thanks again!!
  3. Not really BUT something to remember is that some sections have fewer questions than others. So for example, in English and language usage there's only 24 questions- so there's a much slimmer margin for error than in the science section which has I think somewhere Btwn 45&50 questions.
  4. Know geometric formulas (like how to find the area of a circle) didn't get any physics questions or plant biology questions. It was pretty dense with physiological process questions. Have a clear understanding of bio processes (cell energy production, dna replication, how systems interact with each other). no electromagnetism. Spend some time on english and language usage...thats a tricky section, and theres only like 24 questions so there isn't much margin for error. I highly recommend using the ATI materials to study, esp the practice quizzes. They will give you a report with exactly each section you need to review according to the answers you erred on. Hope that helps!!
  5. This is my schools first year using the TEAS to rank applicants, so I don't know what their average score is for acceptance. Can anyone share with me what their schools average acceptance score is for ADN programs? Or please share your score and if you got accepted to your program or not? I just took the TEAS today and got 87.3% overall. Im hoping thats good enough to get me a spot! If you hypothetically got 87.3, would you retake it and see if you can do better, or just take the 87?
  6. I just took the teas this morning and got 87.3!! Now this is the first year my school is using the tease to rank applicants so idk what the average acceptance is. Also, I set the bar very high for myself so my perception of how well I did is a bit skewed, I admit.. my question is- should I retake it just to see if I can get a better score or would that not be worth it?
  7. I don't know that one class will bring your score up enough to hit 12. If it were me, I would probably retake the teas. But I come from the perspective that just hitting a competitive score isn't enough, I want to score as high a score I possibly can to "secure" my spot... which still is no guarantee.. but i don't want to come this far just to settle for competitive "enough" just to get bumped out over a half a point or something. But again that's just me! Hope that helps
  8. I haven't take it yet but the practice tests from ati, their teas 6 manual and the pocket prep app for teas is giving me some good direction for studying. They really show what areas I'm weakest in and what concepts I need to brush up on or focus on learning. I bought an ATI study package and it was worth every cent in my opinion.
  9. Sometimes I have these self doubts too, but one thing I've learned is that when I haven't done well in classes in the past it's because I allowed my dislike for a particular subject get in the way and cloud my "big picture." Maybe that's not true for everyone. Also, anyone that I know who has failed out of various programs honestly just didn't want it bad enough. They let other things get in the way, they failed to plan, failed to study- something prevented them from putting forth the effort necessary to pass- and maybe they have a valid reason- but the result remains the same. all that just to say, don't let other people make you question your own ability. Just because someone seems smart or put together doesn't mean that they are better than you academically or that you couldn't excell where they failed. Don't assume that you're less than.
  10. What version of the boom do you have? Red or gray? I believe the gray is the updates one. Anyway, I just read this section and mine says its 5 to 3 in the reading, and in the practice answer.. Sorry you got confusing info- but it's 5 to 3 as far as my book goes!
  11. Anyone use the pocket prep app for TEAS practice? Do you think it helped your score? Were questions on the app comparable to what's on the test? Some of them seem really difficult and I'm trying not to let myself get too freaked out- but maybe I'm not freaked out enough 😆
