Waiting 5+ weeks for NCLEX results
Yes! Sorry I forgot to update but I found my license posted late on Friday! Never got a chance to take a trip to the BON because I was waiting on another set of transcripts to be mailed! Thank you so much for the advice though! That was definitely my next step :-)

I survived the Board of Nursing
I am a new grad and have yet to start my first job. I have been told multiple times that carrying personal malpractice insurance is the way to go, and after reading this post, my decision to obtain it ASAP has been solidified. Do any of you carry malpractice insurance, and if so, does anyone have any recommendations on good policies/people to go through?

Waiting 5+ weeks for NCLEX results
I think your right. I I'm thinking that may be my only option right now! I'm waiting on another set of transcripts (this will be the third they've gotten and the first I've sent to myself) as we speak. I just hope they actually do something and don't just tell me the same things they've been telling me over the phone!

Waiting 5+ weeks for NCLEX results
So, I took the dreaded NCLEX in California. And I waited... And waited... and waited some more. No results. I called to ensure that everything was in order (I'd heard stories about lost transcripts) and they ensured me everything was fine and to "be patient". Meanwhile the other students in my class kept continually getting their results in about 48 hours. I waited the four weeks they asked me to wait. I called again and they informed me they've been waiting for transcripts this whole time. I informed them that they were sent and gave them the date. The story then changed to those transcripts being the incorrect transcripts. I spoke with my school who informed me that the transcripts that were sent were correct and that was all they should need. All of the other student in my class became licensed with the same transcripts, no problem. Called the board again and now my case has been sent to a supervisor. This supervisor apparently only comes into the office on Saturdays, ironically a day that I cannot call or even show up (I live over 6 hours away but have contemplated just driving there to get this cleared up). Last time I called I was told to please "be patient" and wait 2 more weeks, that there is nothing they can do. I have seriously given up hope. I have lost two jobs over this and have no money to pay my bills. Can't find another job in the mean time because no one will hire me; I am over qualified and they know I will pursue nursing once my license posts, so they are not willing to invest the time to hire me. I really don't know what to do at this point. All of the new grad jobs that have opened at hospitals in my area have filled up; all of those students have already started working. Even if a new position opened up I have no license to prove I am qualified. I need help, if anyone has any advice, please share.

Contracts?
That is helpful to know. I think this contract may be similar, it's $12000 but over the course of the 3 years, so they only require the $4000 for that year if I understood right. I am very thankful for the chance to interview and the potential to work there, I'd just hate to say yes to the job and then receive a call from my first choice hospital! And it's also very stressful because I have worked generic jobs in the past that don't offer a lot for a career so I have no idea what perks or benefits I should expect and if what they are offering is good or not. It all sounds good to me! But I have been duped before!

Contracts?
I have no idea! But I can ask at the interview! I know they said if for some reason you can't work as a nurse they would take back the sign on bonus they provide. See, these are the questions I don't know to ask! Haha

Contracts?
Hi all! I am a new grad who is awaiting the dreaded NCLEX and looking for my first nursing gig. In my area we have a few hospitals that offer new grad programs. I have landed an interview next week, but am a little concerned because I don't even know what I should be looking for in a new job (such as pay, benefits, etc.). I have no experience with this field yet! The facility I was offered an interview at requires you to sign a 3 year contract. Another nearby facility requires no contract and pays $5 an hour more. Unfortunately I have not landed an interview at this higher paying, no contract facility. I know that landing your first nursing gig is not always easy, but I am afraid to be locked into a 3 year contract (especially when they make no promises that you can be transfered to your department of interest). I need some insight! Possible questions to ask the facility, or advice! Thanks!
