  1. I recently completed my wound, ostomy, and continence program. I plan to receive my full scope certification within the following 6-9 months. I've applied for a handful of wound and ostomy nursing jobs at hospitals. I received two job interviews. The first one was really intimidating: a job panel interview with four departmental interviewers. I believe this is a standard job interview for a wound or ostomy position. The second job interview went okay. However, they showed little interest in me, and one of the managers snapped at me when I responded to the inquiry, "Tell me about yourself." I'm pleased they didn't choose me, so I don't have to work there. Based on my observations and knowledge, the wound department is rather modest. There is a normal familial link among the nurses who work there; for example, at my present hospital, a daughter will be hired despite her lack of experience and wound certification since her mother works there. The daughter and I were both doing our clinicals at the same time. But there is a difference in how they regard us. They taught her more and took her to various locations within the hospital, such as the OR. The management of the second hospital I mentioned above informed me that one of the nurses is the daughter-in-law of another nurse who works there. As a nurse with no connection and no experience in wound and ostomy care, I presume that no hospital will accept me, despite the fact that their job description states that they are open to nurses with no experience who are in the process of acquiring certification. Will somebody offer me advice? Should I work as an ALF visit wound nurse for a few years before applying for hospital jobs? Is It unlikely that the hospital will recruit a new wound ostomy nurse unless I have the inside connection?
  2. Thank you so much for your information.
  3. Hi, just wonder if you are currently or done with any of the wound course? I am interested becoming a wound nurse. Winona University website seems like not working or TBD. Webwoc program is working but you have to find your own preceptor.
  4. I am graduated in 2016 and I had suffered badly during my nursing school at Hennepin Tech. I hope that anyone who is going to apply to school or consider applying for this school, please read my article. This review is only about Brooklyn Park Campus The school creates a new program which you will finish your LPN within one year but you have be full time student. They create 4 classes and that is all you need to take. If you fail any of them; you are out of the program or go through more complicated progress to be back to the program (REALLY this is the disadvantage about this new program) The instructors will assign a lot of reading. You come to class and take quiz then do some in-class assignments. And that is it!!! They barely give you any lectures (NO LECTURES). NO LECTURES; NO POWER APPOINTMENT. They believe that students learn NOTHING from LECTURES (this is a joke!!!) The whole program and teaching methods are extremely unorganized. SO UNORGANIZED that students are the one who are suffered. Many of my classmates were depressed and losing their hopes and questioned themselves the abilities to become nurses. One time over 20 students (basically, everyone in the classroom) walked out of the classroom during the class time after everyone failed the exam and on the edge of failing the class. This was a JOKE!
  5. For everyone who decides to apply to Hennepin Tech, STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL, especially Brooklyn park Campus. I was graduated from this school in 2016 and I would say I learned NOTHING from the instructors. They will not teach you anything. YOU are on your own. One time everyone in my classes walked out of the classroom in the middle of class time. All you get from the school is frustration, depression, Zoloft 200 mg, AND unorganized program. Books even can teach better than these instructors.
