I'm prepping for the TEAS, which I believe I will be taking at the end of March. I've made massive improvements in math with the help of Khan Academy. The English and Reading are my natural strengths. But science. Oy. It does not seem there is a way to prep for this. It's just so much. Right now I have over 100 websites bookmarked to try to review. But that just doesn't seem logical or practical. I've read quite a few posts here on AN about the test and it seems that other than taking three or four pre-req classes (bio, chem, A&P), there is no real way to prep for the science portion. Does anyone have any suggestions at all?

First, I gotta say, it is SO frustrating to try to contact the advisors for the LPN program at both Saint Paul and HCTC. I have two very simple questions and it would take them about five minutes max, but for some reason no one returns phone calls or emails! For those of you that went to either school, does anyone know if there is a wait list once you complete your pre-reqs? And does anyone know what the acceptance rate is into the program? I am just narrowing down between those two programs and want to figure out which gives me a better shot.

How are people accumulating 100k in student loan debt? I was under the impression that the Fed Gov had a cap of 50k for undergrads.

So, I'm finishing my associates degree in liberal arts this semester. Yay me! Especially considering it took me 20 years to do it! I'm in the process of figuring out where I want to transfer. Because of my experience in the birth work world (doula), I really would like to work in women's reproductive health (planned parenthood or a women's health clinic). So, I've decided that instead of going on to get a four year degree, I'm going to get another two year. My options are: LPN diploma Medical Assistant Associates degree RN I'm really leaning away from the RN, for the silliest of reasons. I don't ever want to be responsible for someone's life. I would rather be the low man on the totem pole for a ton of reasons. So the choice then is between LPN and CMA. I know there *can* be a difference in salary, but that isn't my major consideration. Mostly, I want to work with patients, don't mind a 50/50 split between clinical work and paperwork/office duties. I'm just trying to figure out which direction is going to offer me the best end result. And can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere. So, what have you? Any thoughts one way or the other?
