  1. Oh wow they must have had a lot of applicants! Thank you for the update!!!
  2. Good deal thank you for the response!!! I hope we all hear good news soon!
  3. Has anyone gotten an interview? It's March and I would think they would have sent out invitations to interview by now?
  4. Ok I called because I was getting antsy. í ½í¸Š No solid answers just that they are still reviewing applications and will get the interview decisions out really soon!
  5. Yup I am still waiting! I hope we all receive good news and if I hear anything I will come on here and let you guys know! If I don't well we all know why. í ½í¸¹
  6. To be honest, I have no clue and I haven't heard anything. They are very vague when you call them as far as whether they place more emphasis on grades or experience so I'm thinking everyone has a fair chance. I'm just hoping for the best at this point. I'm thinking it will be a couple of more weeks of waiting to find out anything.. I hope we all receive good news!
  7. Since there has been two holidays and staff just got back to work today I'm not expecting them to send out interview information until late January or February. When I called they did state that they allow a grace period for snail mail transcripts. I did not ask if they had to be verified in CAS by the 15th of December and it was not stated that it had to in their FAQ's so hopefully that is good news!
  8. That's really insightful and gave me a lot to think about! Thank you again for your response and I appreciate you for taking the time!!!
  9. Ok so I am back and about to turn in my application! What do you feel like really helped set you apart from other candidates as far as getting in? Anyone can answer this question that was accepted! Thank you so much!
  10. I am curious as to what clinic this is in Oklahoma so that I NEVER consider working there! That is insane and I am so sorry that happened to you! I really would like to know that clinic though. That's hideous.
  11. Oh and kudos on choosing Accelerated! You just saved yourself thousands of dollars for your 2018 summer semester! You will see...
  12. Hello! I am a current student. I have noticed the negative reviews. Honestly I think that has more to do with the need for Kramer to have stricter admission standards. Not everyone is ready to study for nursing school. I hate to say that but it is true. It takes a great deal of maturity and determination to make it through nursing curriculum. I thought my previous science degree and work history would make nursing school easy but to put it lightly...first semester was a humbling experience. They have made things harder for students to get into the program and dismissal occurs after the failure of two courses. In the past this was not the case. I am happy that they have done this. I think reviews may also be based on students thinking that paying a high tuition negates spending ample time studying and working hard. This school is just as tough as every other nursing program across the board. I am proud of my Kramer education and all that it has taught me. I am in my final semester and I can say it was all worth it. I made straight A's, I worked, and I won scholarships. You got this. Best advice for this fall...play the game. Don't let the reviews deter you...if you are willing to work hard you will excel in this program and be a great nurse!!!
  13. You sound like you are referring to an entrance HESI while I believe the author is referring to an exit HESI even though this is an old topic. The entrance is almost impossible to fail and has percentages for the grade while the exit has a numerical score range of about 0-1400. The entrance usually does not require studying as it is skills you should have picked up in your prerequisite courses.
  14. Yes you can work during an Accelerated BSN program. It is tough and you will have absolutely NO life but anyone can do anything they put their mind to. I would say to the person who posted to do a bit more research but to also not allow anyone to stop you from what you want to do. Experience never harmed anyone either. Try to get as much experience as possible in hard areas like ICU or ER as soon as you get your BSN. Try to work as an LPN after your second semester for more experience (depending on your state laws for taking the exam during nursing school). You can go directly into NP but starting out part time so you can work as an RN may be best or taking a year off to work as an RN THEN beginning NP school. Trust me as a medic and someone who THOUGHT they knew nursing before they entered the field I can tell you...NURSING IS TOUGH! Experience is a must and a degree unfortunately doesn't mean you have what it takes just like me being a medic AND having a Biology/Chemistry degree meant I had a "come to Jesus moment" relatively quickly when I began school that made me realize I need to work HARD to gain as much knowledge and experience ASAP to achieve my goals. Be the provider you would want to see.
  15. Awesome! Students have lots of different tools they use during clinical. Its up to you to purchase what you see fit. I am sure you will be more than fine either way. Best of luck!
  16. You do not need to have either you just need to have the prerequisites completed.
  17. First of all CONGRATS! And I would do the first 5 chapters of the Ogden text required of your pharm class. Math seems to trip people up sometimes and it will be one less thing you have to study for if you master it early. It can make or break you in some courses. Also, sleep and enjoy your time this summer! It's going to get real hectic real fast but you can do it!
  18. You are absolutely fine it wasn't that long ago that I was super anxious about starting so I understand. I am from Oklahoma with a previous degree in Bio/Chem and I currently work in research. I have wanted to be a provider for years. I initially thought I wanted to be a PA but I did a ton of research and shadowing to ultimately decide against the field. I did not want to be attached/report to a Doc all day long but I wanted to be a provider. I just knew that MD was not my calling. I really love taking care of people from a more holistic approach. Just so happens I got a new PCP that informed me that I should consider nursing. She let me know there was a such thing as "accelerated" and to do my research. Once I did I was hooked and nothing was going to stop me. Lol. As you might have guessed my plan is to go straight into NP school but first I want to work in ICU or Cardiology. The heart is my first love. =] I am close to 30 so I completely understand not wanting to wait. I was very impatient. Just know the best advice I got from a very close friend that went to Rose State is nursing school is a mind game...PLAY THE GAME. Show up, get your work done, and always come prepared. A lot of my friends are nurses or are in nursing school around Oklahoma and our experiences are so similar I am convinced the only difference in nursing programs is what the individual is going to make out of it. If you do come to Kramer, come with an open mind. Most people get stuck on math so I would recommend getting the Ogden text this summer and doing the first 5 chapters for practice. If you get ahead on that you will be GOLDEN.
  19. I am finishing up the second semester and will graduate this December. I am accelerated because I have a degree and fell in love with this field rather quickly once I researched more. Within a month I made up my mind and was outside of OU's application cycle for accelerated. I saw no point in wasting a year trying to get into schools when I can work hard and get money the old fashioned way with minimal loans. It is always up to the person to make out of it what they choose to make out of it but I think anyone who is willing to put in the work can be successful at ANYTHING. The instructors are not here to try to get you kicked out they want to bring the best out of you so you can be the best nurse possible. If you have any other questions let me know but any school you go to would be lucky to have you and I am sure you will be a wonderful nurse!
  20. Reading some of these comments is eye opening. No school is perfect and I think part of the problem with complaints about Kramer lies with some of the students they allow in. Not everyone is ready to be a nurse when they sign up for it. If you don't have good studying skills you will not do well and it is as simple as that. I can tell you I walk into hospitals and people are amazed with my knowledge. I am not here to down talk a school or place blame on an institution for my academic achievements but the negative talk on this site about Kramer is mostly from students who honestly maybe were not ready for the onslaught that is nursing school. Either school you choose to go to is up to you but my education at Kramer has been amazing. You definitely get what you pay for which means you get a dedicated staff that are here to help you along the way BUT make no mistakes they are here to teach you not to make you do what you are supposed to do. I see some students who go out on weekends and party then are shocked on Monday when they fail an exam. I never understood that. I read my book, study my notes, record my lectures, work, am involved in student organizations, and make straight A's. This school is expensive, I sign up and win lots of scholarships. Anyone that is willing to work hard is going to get it done. I also have friends who go to other schools that love it there. It is up to you but please do not believe the hype. Tuition is over 16,000 a semester but you get transfer scholarships (at least 3,000 if you have a 3.0) depending on ultimately how high your GPA is.
  21. Congratulations! That is where I would love to go next fall! I'll come back and ask questions as it gets closer to that time.
  22. Good I am glad you got that answered I got so busy I completely forgot to answer! (If that gives you any indication of what you are in for LOL) I like it and I learn so much! I have a prior degree in the sciences and I will tell you....Nursing school is unlike anything you have ever experienced! Get ready to work hard and yes...you can maintain a job while you are here but I dont recommend it unless you are either super studious OR have a job that is EXTREMELY lenient with your schedule so you do not have to work the week prior to tests. Get ready to read your textbook (A LOT) and talk to upper class men. They have been through what you have been through so they know the deal. Pick up study habits from them. You only get a week and a half between the Spring semester and the Summer semester (GASP! LOL). In addition the semester is 11 weeks long. YES accelerated sucks...but YES you can do it! Oh! This summer I recommend purchasing the Ogden-Calculation of Drug Dosages text and do the first 5 chapters this summer. Lots of people have problems with math so don't let math lower your grade put in that work before school starts. Orientation will make you feel overwhelmed...dont worry about it we all felt that way. Nursing school is a mind game so best advice is play the game and be nice. Everything will work out! One more thing...get the older version of the text books. Don't waste your money...people swore I needed the newest edition of everything but there isn't that much of a difference. I made straight A's with an old version of all my books. I personally like e-books too because you will see...your nursing books weigh a TON! LOL Sorry so long! Just sharing what I know as I sit here relaxing from an exam. BEST OF LUCK!!!
  23. I take that back! We just found where it says that on the site! I am currently emailing my advisor and will let you know what they say.
  24. You would have to link me to your source. Everything I have reviewed and my classmates disagree. You may have stumbled upon some information that pertains to another matter. I have transfer scholarships within the school and other scholarships outside of the school that I am eligible to use during the summer or fall. Here is a good link to look at as it actually details the amount you would receive. Hope this helps! Transfer - Oklahoma City University
  25. Call Kramer. If you have a degree you may be okto not take it but I know it's required if you don't have one nonetheless I would call for clarification. http://www.okcu.edu/uploads/2015-Self-Guided-Worksheet.pdf
