  1. What is the price range you're looking for? Woodbridge is pretty affordable and some parts of DC and MD but the traffic for the commutes are very bad.
  2. A lot of the nurses that worked at Virginia hospital center lived in Maryland (Prince George county) and would commute to Arlington. I guess all due to cost of living. Also, some parts of DC are cheap and easy to commute to va for Work. You just have to check out the traffic in those areas.
  3. Congratulations! Good luck, I enjoyed my time there as a pca. Working on getting my nursing now.
  4. Yes I must agree with this although I am not there yet I have witnessed people make these sort of comments. They don't know the struggle of becoming a nurse whether its financial hardship or family or just getting into a nursing program. I believe all nurses are equal, yes there are levels to it, some titles can do more than other but that's not just in nursing it's in every field. People can be ignorant. nurses are nurse no matter what training they have completed and you are appreciated! ❤️
  5. Congratulations!! Wish you all the best in your career!
  6. For employees the rate for their child care is 12$ Or 15$ I can't remember exactly an hour. And vhc shifts work on 12 hour shifts. So you basically work 7:00 to 7:30 three times a week. And schedule varies on your unit. It's a nice hospital to work at.
  7. Hi gigles, I moved down to Alexandria va last November from the Bronx. And it is very different. We don't like it much, and are actually considering moving back up that way. Anyways you should try Virginia hospital center in Arlington, they are always hiring and it's a nice place to work. A lot of the nurses that he started when I started were new grads. And your experience would be acceptable. I'm not sure what the starting rate for nurses is though. I just know their hiring process for all employees is the same and it was very easy. Also, inova hospital is good too from what I hear and they pay a bit more than vhc. Now the cost of living is pretty high! For a two bedroom rent starts from 1400 and up depending on the area and the apartment and that's with out utilities. Gas water electric and trash is seperate at least in this area. From what I've noticed nurses live outside va like in dc or md and commute everyday because of pay and cost of living differences. Down by Virginia Beach I believe the cost of living and salary is less.
  8. I was just wondering because where I'm finishing up my MA I was told I can choose either so was not sure which way to go.
  9. They can. So far the only difference is who. Ma certified ma is certified by aama and a registered is registered by amt. But I want to know if there are certain duties one can do that another can or is there one that is a step above the other. I don't know anyone who is registered.
  10. What is the difference between a registered and certified medical assistant?
  11. Is this only for nurses?
  12. Unfortunately this happened to me as well. I originally got my cna in NY. Just a darn minute away. And the state made me retake my cna in Nj again. It was such a terrible experience. Which just reminded me I have to Recertify. They are so complicated.
  13. I worked in in somerset county and the starting rate was 13.00 an hour w o benefits. However when I moved to philly southern Nj w my Nj cna and then my pa cna it was between 8-11$ an hour. Highest paying I got was 12.50 in philly.
  14. I did not see that. According to my enrollment profile I had to do a subsidized loan and that didn't even cover the two classes I'm taking for out of state resident. But I am gonna check it out asap. I'm a single parent of two and I really don't want to be having loans unless I really need them! thanks for the heads up! I had no idea.
  15. thats perfect! And yes I am. It's been a long time coming. That's great advice thank you. I was thinking of taking all the classes I can before hand so that I can focus on the nursing part when it's time. Its def going to be a bit pricey for me since I'm considered out of state student. thank you so much for your time!
