  1. Do not do anything until school notifies you to do so. State your case to them if they ask you why it was in your system. I would go to my MD and ask for a prescription for it, if your anxiety is like this. Nursing can be very stressful in itself. If the MD doesn't feel you need it don't ever take it again. EVER!
  2. I agree with you on some levels. Maybe you expected to much out of nursing when you went into the field. I went into the nursing field because that is what I always wanted to do. There is bad that is always with the good. All nursing has its baggage. You have to decide if you carry it and what parts you don't. I agree case management also is dealing with patient, family , and MD. I was one so I know it. As you grow in nursing you begin to become more compatible. There will always be people giving negative thoughts anywhere you work. You have to really enjoy what you are doing to love your job. You may need to work in a different environment. Nursing is loving the patients and yourself at the same time. I love nursing and I wouldn't have a second thought about my career choice.
  3. In every position of life you may come in contact with that type of personality. If it is a problem contact your nurse supervisor always use the chain of command for a problem. I was a charge nurse and my team of night shift nursing was ever being preyed upon by a stroke patient. I spoke with him and made sure he or she understood that they were being inappropriate. The patient continued one day when the MD was there and the MD matter of fact spoke to him directly. Patient continued and was discharged. Now this was a patient who was in a rehab so this could be done. Some patients do not have the concept depending on diagnosis of what they are saying or doing. Just remember that. If you have a patient that is being inappropriate always take another nurse or CNA with you to the room. Most nurse directors will advise you of this. Always be kind and expect the unexpected and again remember the diagnosis. Stoke or head injuries may cause patients to do things that they normally wouldn't do.
  4. How did you ever pull that out? Now I will have to put another foley back in!
  5. 1. You can't be everywhere at once. 2. By the end of the shift you will smell and look like you have been through a terrible storm. 3.Take the bad just like the good. 4. Carry vapor rub at all times in your nursing bag for emergency smells. 5. Forget about using the restroom and get a permanent foley!
  6. Yes, I am the greatest, My patient had the best bowel movement ever and my hands are clean .
  7. their spouse in bed with them accidently hitting the call button!
