  1. how could her bleeding have been "controlled" if her HGB was dropping quickly to such levels?
  2. I agree. something else is going on here.
  3. Davey Do stated: "To these Patients, I remind them that this is a Hospital and not the Hilton". First of all, I cannot imagine how I would perceive such a terrible, insensitive statement being said to me when I am asking for something that is essential to health and recovery. Sleep is mandatory. REM sleep is vital to the wellness and healing of patients and to EVERYONE. This is not something to trivialize. I have studied extensively the power and healing qualities of sleep and the lethal repercussions to not having adequate sleep. It still amazes me that the medical community would never think of depriving themselves of going home for a good night's sleep but are very happy to let their patients suffer from lack of sleep.
  4. Why oh why we stay at jobs that are rude and mean to us? Find another job and be clear by having them put it in writing.
  5. I'm OLD AND tired. And I just started my MSN program this week. After paying $4000, I realized that I don't really give a poo about working much longer. I am 36 years into this and I am done. That lovely boat in my yard would look great in a blue lake, gently rolling with the waves while I sip a Jack and coke with my honey under sunny skies and the sound of the waves hitting the side of the boat with that rhythmic sound, splash, splash, splash, and I just close my eyes and remember when I used to work my self to death at nursing, worrying and freaking out at each sign of impending disaster, and wonder why the hell I didn't take things a little easier.
  6. DoBUTAmine is a Strong beta1 and weak beta2/alpha effects, resulting in increased cardiac output, blood pressure, and heart rate, as well as decreased peripheral vascular resistance. It's often used in cardiogenic shock. There isn't a renal dose of Dobutamine usually ( unless you are looking at the secondary effects of increase BP that will increase urine output,), you must be thinking about DoPAMine.
  7. I've been in nursing for 37 years. And yes, there are still days when I think it's the worst decision of my life.
  8. Of course you report it. You have to. If you think reporting him is going to ruin his life, think again. His life is already ruined. Stealing drugs from your workplace is a HUGE red flag that very bad things are coming your way, baby!! He isn't just going to stop. You may be doing him the biggest favor of his life. You might just save his life. We found one our nursing co-workers dead in the bathroom 5 years ago. Plus, as a nurse, you have to report.
