  1. I applied to Herzing (along with University of Cincinnati and Graceland University). I was told I would get in based on my GPA, jumped through all the hoops, and then a few weeks later got a call that they were closing the program to Minnesota students due to lack of available preceptors. Fortunately they refunded my money in a timely fashion and were very professional about it overall. I ended up getting accepted to the two other programs and decided on U of Cincinnati.
  2. I just turned 42 and am starting FNP next month :) I figured it was now or never because I am not getting any younger....
  3. Congrats to you as well emanny! I just registered for the first two classes and ordered my books. Figured it likely wouldn't hurt to start reading ahead of the Pathophys class since this looks to be a heavy semester right off the bat!
  4. Congrats to you too! A FB page sounds like a great idea! I just got the email this morning so it is all still a bit surreal!!
  5. If you just submitted everything to nursingCAS expect in to take at least a few weeks for them to verify it all (however I have heard of people waiting several months too. It took them 4 weeks to process mine). Once they are done on their end they send you an email (or you can look online and monitor the progress) and then you contact your Enrollment Advisor who in turn sends you a link to complete the U of C application. That one literally took 5 min to do and you pay your $65 U of C application fee at the same time.
  6. I applied to it and then a few days later they told me that they had closed the program in my state (MN) due to difficulty finding preceptors...
  7. I just got accepted to the fall 2016 FNP distance program!! Anyone else here in that cohort?? I am so excited!!!
  8. I just got my acceptance for their FNP stream this fall!! So excited!! I submitted my app on May 1st (the original deadline before it was extended to May 15) so it really didn't take long to hear!!
  9. Yes I did. U of Cincinnati requires it. It wouldn't be so bad if NursingCAS wasn't completely inefficient and incompetent. Every time I called for information or an update I got a different answer about the same thing. They lost my documents but didn't tell me; I happened to find out when I called them (so I had to pay to get them sent again. Even though tracking showed them arriving at the correct destination). Check out their FB page and you will see a whole lot of upset people in the reviews. And if you are thinking about applying to U of Cincinnati for the fall you will likely not make the new May 15 deadline (it was extended) as NursingCAS takes anywhere from 2-6 weeks to verify your documents...
  10. I have applied for the fall 2016 online FNP cohort...My admissions counsellor said that she is putting my appl'n up for review on Thurs (nursingCAS nightmare for the last 6 weeks ugh!)
  11. How are the people from this thread finding the Herzing FNP Program? I can't find many reviews about it.
  12. I would also have a professional resume writer look at yours and make sure it is top notch. They can make magic out of your attributes, volunteer experience, etc. It is anywhere from $350-$2000 but it is money well spent (and some guarantee at least an interview or your money back). Check out someone with the Certified Professional Resume Writers credential. Good luck to you!!
  13. Yes I do :) That is good to know about work/school feasibility. I am just trying to decide between MSN FNP at a few other institutions or just biting the bullet and going the DNP route. I have heard good things about Creighton overall.
  14. I am looking at applying to this program- how are you finding it? I work a 0.5 but can go down to a 0.4 if need be to make it more manageable. Plus they have a contract with my health system so finding preceptors shouldn't be too bad.
