CCL RN, If I remember correctly it only took a couple of weeks. I remember being surprised at how quick I recieved it.

To CCL RN, To answer your question, yes I did have to do my fingerprints again when I moved to WA, even though my SC ones were not even that old. In my experience, every state I have moved to I have had to redo my fingerprints. I hope that helps you! :)

Hello All :) I am moving to Washington this Fall. I am moving from SC, so I will need to apply for a license in Washington. How do I go about this process? I have moved quite a bit, but only to states so far that were in the nursing compact. Is this process any different? I just had my fingerprints done less than a year ago when I moved to SC (husband is military) and have been working since I have lived here. Will I need to get my fingerprints/backgroud check done again...or how do i transfer that? Any help appreciated! I would like to start this process as soon as I can.

I was just lucky...landed an interview and was hired on the spot. I am thankful for all the experience I have gained. I just work postpartum...only RNs are hired for labor and delivery.

I work in a hospital on a postpartum unit. As far as I know our unit hires RNs and LPNs. I know many LPNs that work at this hospital on different units. I think it just depends on where you are located.

I have been trying to transfer over to an RN program for the last several years. My husband is in the military so I've had problems with different states requiring different things. I have all my requirements to enter the program in New Mexico but am unable to since we are moving to SC in a month. I have all my requirements but one for Trident Technical college LPN-RN program. The TEAS test! I do not know where to take this test since I am not a current student anywhere. I cannot take it in SC because my packet is due before then. Any suggestions from people who have taken this test and where if you were not a current student? Any suggestions would be helpful because I am very frustrated. Thank You!:redbeathe

Just had to add something to this post when I saw it:D I work on a busy pp unit and have been there for almost 2 years. I was assessing a new admission and right in the middle of the assessment she looks at me and states "Get me some Coffee" in a rude demanding tone. I just finished assessing her and walked out of the room. I was not in the mood. It's sad how people cater to anyone that is impatient and rude, it just teaches them if they are rude/impatient than they will always get what they want.!

The hospital I work at does not hire LPNs to work in L&D. However, they do hire LPNs to work on the Postpartum Unit if you are interested in that, but I don't know if its that way for every hospital.

Congrats on going back for your RN. The hard part is always getting started, and it sounds like you have a good plan to follow. Just take it one semester at a time, and remember to take time out for yourself when possible. A clear head will help you focus on your studies. You will do fine and congrats again! You also have LPN experience so that will help you a great deal, you are already familiar with how the nursing world works.

2 times in 8 months is not bad at all...you have sick days and you should be able to use them for whatever the reason is. Also you should not have to explain your reason to others if you have not went over your sick days. We all need mental health days or we would absouletly go crazy and wear ourselves thin. Do not feel bad about what you did.:redbeathe
