  1. You MUST LOVE It. If you don't you won't make it or you'll find it to be the hardest thing ever. But if you do, it will be Great And who knows, you might want to go on and become a doctor !
  2. Just got my first job as an RN at 53! You don't want to wake up at 70 and tell yourself..."I should Have..." Go for it!
  3. Hello Cathy! I just graduated from Nursing school at 53! I have been a MA for 12 years and I needed a change so I just went for it. It is extremely difficult, you think it'll be easy since you know a thing or two about medicine but let me tell you, you will cry, you will doubt, you will loose sleep BUT it's all worth it! You don't want to wake up at 70 years old thinking " I should have ..." GO FOR IT! 50 is the new 30 haven't you heard?.... I'm with you girl 100%!
  4. I would go with D first, complete CMP, CBC, creatinine and BUN. But checking for hematuria and WBC would be excellent also. I might order a culture to compare with the previous infections...
  5. Nursing school is HELL!!! you MUST LOVE LOVE LOVE the medical field to survive this! If you have facility with academic work it's already an excellent point for you! For the clinicals you practice what's in the book. You need to love people and have a very good sense of initiative! The professors are looking for the students who they can trust will always come with a good plan B if needed. Your patients are always your first priority and the knowledge of their conditions is what you "always" have to know. You'll be just fine, there will be a lots of sleepless nights, lost of tears, lost of "I can't do this anymore", but you'll be just fine... Good Luck
  6. Why don't you just enjoy the Easy ride to a good paying job as an RN and then you'll be able to continue with your education and become a PA? Or you can just quit altogether if you're that bored...
  7. Well my dear, let's say that you started on the wrong foot. If you Really want this career you will have to make every effort to redeem yourself. Come early to clinical; ask to be assign difficult cases; ask your professor for guidance; be available to do Anything on the floor. That is what your professor is waiting for right now... she wants you to show her that you really want to be an RN ! Good Luck, it's not too late... do not fight this!
