So, just wondering if any of you are being asked to compile and distribute health related materials to students online? This is obviously directed at those schools who are either strictly online or hybrid at this time. If you are, would you be interested in sharing your insights, connections, websites, etc.? Anything would be helpful, and I just thought if there are several of us having to do this, we could network. I have been using the CDC so far for fact sheets concerning Covid-19, and looking at other health topics also. Any thoughts or advice appreciated!
  2. So...on my mind today...how long do you all keep student health records? Is it a certain number of years beyond graduation, etc.? Just curious, as I have taken a new position and would like to use this "front end" time to get things organized. Thanks so much for any input and advice. Have a lovely rest of the day!

Good morning! I have recently re-joined the family of school nursing. Glad to be back, I think, LOL. So, I was wondering, for those who are back at school with no students present, what tasks are you doing? Are you taking temps for staff? What documentation, if any, are you doing? Any other helpful info would be so appreciated. Thank you and have a wonderful day!
  4. Also following this thread. I have looked at their job postings before and am also interested. Good luck in your pursuit.
  5. YES, YES, AND YES!! While I understand helping to cover the teachers' behind, I also understand that most of the kids they send out of the classroom should have never been sent to the nurse. The students are the ones to suffer in the long run, because they are missing precious classroom minutes just to keep a teacher or school from getting sued. So sad!

Thanks for your reply. I can't see any reasoning behind it. It's almost like setting kids up for failure! And, not to mention the fact that if 'classrooms' are set up in the gym, they won't be able to have gym in the gym...not sure how that's going to work, since physical exercise for all students is a requirement!! We won't talk about the safety hazards with cords running every which way on the floor. Give me strength!!
  7. Congrats on taking the exam! I am sure you did great...and yes, hard to believe in this day and time of technology that it takes so long to get the results. I took the exam last year and passed (thank God!). I kept on checking the website and calling the number on the website. I was told over the phone that I had failed...only to receive an email the next day stating I had passed!! What a roller coaster of emotions! Keep us updated!
  8. LOL!! Thank you for sharing this! I sure needed to see something humorous this morning.

Good morning, fellow life-savers!! Just wondering if other schools place students in "rotations" this time of year. By this I mean, students are taken out of their regular classrooms (where they already have trouble concentrating) and placed in 'classroom' areas that are set up in the gym. This involves literally moving the entire classroom tables and chairs, etc. I am so upset and outraged by this!! I am really concerned for my ADHD students who already have distraction issues! Sorry for the rant, just wondering if other schools do anything like this?? The noise level is outrageous, and my heart breaks for my students! Thank you for listening, have a terrific Tuesday!
  10. Good morning, co-workers! Just a few questions about school health councils. First, do you have one at your school? If so, did you start it? Also, are you in charge of meetings, and if so, what are some topics that you meet on? Thanks so much for any input. As you can probably tell, I have come back from Christmas Break and been 'blind-sided' (sounds familiar, right?). Have a marvelous day!!
  11. Hi, ang888. I had the same experience. Called and was told it may be 8 weeks. Then I received an email that evening saying I PASSED. What a relief!! I am so thrilled for your good news!! Now to wait for our fancy certificates to come in the mail!! Congrats to you!
  12. It's been about 7 weeks. In this age of technology, just has me wondering why it takes so long.
  13. Good morning, Happy Friday!! Has anyone taken the national certification test recently? If so, have you gotten results yet? Just wondering why it takes so long to get results...
