Nursing school is temporary. Will it be harder with kids? Of course. Literally everything in life is harder when you have kids. The thing is, they are worth it. I have two kids and am in nursing school and it's fine. You just need to schedule your time wisely and make sure you have backup care lined up in case of an emergency. I would say a good 1/2 or more of my cohort has at least one child. Just get your IUD out and let it happen when it does. There is never going to be a good time to have a child. Don't miss the boat out of fear. You can do it. edited to add: Regardless of what you do, DONT take a break from school. Like I said before, nursing school is temporary. It goes by so fast. Don't do what I did and take a break after my pre-reqs because I had a kid. It took me 5 years to go back to school. In retrospect, it would have been SOOO much better to just keep trucking along and finish my schooling.

I don't know if you have received the email from SCC by now, but it basically says they have no idea what the schedule will be like yet. There are two orientation dates scheduled, one on 11/23 and one on 1/10, which is mandatory.

Congrats! We haven't received any information yet. I got my background check code the other day and that's it. We did start a Facebook page for the SCC spring 2017 cohort if you want to join. It's called Scottsdale Community College Nursing Spring 2017 Cohort.

Both Bekkahmercury and I are traditional placement.

My choices were (in order) MCC morning, MCC afternoons, CGCC, SCC, and GCC. I got my fourth choice.

I had a timestamp of 10/15/15 at 08:00:50 and was placed at my 4th choice, SCC, yesterday.

They aren't hard and fast (I don't think), but I just searched class schedules for NUR152 and read some forums to get an idea of start and end times for the first block.

So today is the last day to make changes to your school choice for the Maricopa Colleges before placement is supposed to begin later this week. Right now I have the two MCC programs as first and second choices, then CGC, Scottsdale, and Gateway in that order. I know I have a really slim change of getting into MCC because they are barely accepting any public placements, but obviously we never know. Today I was browsing the schedules of the various schools, and it looks like CGC has a pretty good schedule that would work out well with my schedule. CGC has always been closest to my house, but the thing that has put me off the most about that school is all of the previous negative reports from nursing students that went there. I am considering changing CGC to my second choice after MCC traditional, but I'm still scared that I will regret my choice to do that. PLEASE tell me what your experience was/is with CGC! Help me!!

Its not "running" like it has in the past because the system is down. I called the hotline today and it seems that they are going through the list and emailing people individually. As they receive deferments and/or the deadline passes to accept placement without response and more spots open up, they will continue placing. Its going to take a lot longer this way I think since its all being done manually.

I think the August stamps have a pretty good shot. She said there are a little over 100 public spots available. They didn't get to August in the last placement. Any idea how many Augusts there are?

No, I think they meant that they are continuing as scheduled. The wording is a little confusing. I called earlier this week and she said they are planning to start placement on the 30th, and that it will happen as it has in the past, meaning it will go in rounds. The first placement will begin next week and will likely continue for 1-2 months until all of the spots are filled. As of earlier this week, they were still waiting on a couple of schools to tell them how many spots are available before they begin the first placement. Good luck everyone!

Well poop, you are right. I just looked up the nursing classes on class search and they are held at the Williams campus on Ray and Recker. It's still the closest CC to me (I'm between the two CGC campuses). Did you hear anything from the nursing students on the program? I have heard such mixed reviews, it's weird.

My choices are as follows: 1.) Mesa traditional 2.) Mesa afternoons/evenings 3.) Chandler Gilbert 4.) Scottsdale 5.) Gateway traditional I reeeeally want to get into Mesa, which is why I chose both programs. It's close to my house and I'm familiar with the campus and the nursing advisors. It also has good NCLEX pass rates. I'm just most comfortable there. Chandler Gilbert is actually closer to my house, but I put it as my third choice because of all of the mixed reviews. I'm nervous about having it as a choice at all because of it, but practicality won that internal debate. I'm fairly familiar with the campus as I have taken a class there before. I have never been to Scottsdale or Gateway, but Mapquest says they are the next closest to me. I currently work right by Gateway and the 10 is a nightmare in rush hour traffic, which is why I put that as my 5th choice. I wanted to choose 5 schools because I just want to get in come the fall. One more month before placement!!

Does anyone know when the Application Status page is going to come back up? I want to update my school choices. I'm also really anxious to see how many openings they'll have for each school for the fall semester. Thanks!

Oh. Interesting. I'm not entirely sure that would be beneficial for me. The prereq review seems like it mmmmight be, though.

I'm so glad this was asked! I was wondering about it as well. What kind of information do you go over for Block 1? Does is consist of reviewing what we learned in our prereqs, or what exactly?

I hope you're right! I would do CEP but I will be one class short come application time. I figure I will take the class and apply for the BSN a year into the ASN program. I talked to the MCC advisor and she told me the prerequisites are exactly the same, as is the program. Waiting that extra year for the BSN will help me financially too.

My first choice is Mesa mornings, second is Mesa afternoons, third is CGC, and fourth is Gateway Accelerated. I tried to choose schools with a lot of openings. I reeeally want my first or second choice though! I am admittedly a little nervous about CGC because of the rumors. What school did you get into?

Yes, I definitely saw a few people with August time stamps get placed for Spring, but I wonder how far into August they got. My Oct timestamp is 8:00:24, so I am not too far into October. This not knowing is killing me!

Hi everyone! I have been lurking here a loooong time and finally decided to make an account.I applied to the Maricopa program and got an October 2015 timestamp. I am trying to determine what my chances are for getting into the Fall 2016 cohort. So, for all of you that got placed for Spring 2016, what are (were) your timestamps?
