Nonclinical Supervisors - vent
i have a supervisor which is non clinical also, and it bugs me because she is forever in the way,and she does not have a clue what is going on half the time, she butts in where she is not needed, and makes desicions, that are not her place to do,and tries to do my job, after talking with her about this, things were okay for about a week then she was back to the same thing again,! not only does she do this to me,she also tries to do everybody elses job as well,i dont understand how people are basically hired off the street,to do jobs most people have spent yrs in college for and to make it worse they make alot more money than you do!!! what is the point of college you know? if you can just walk in anywhere now days, and land a killer job,and have little to no experience?:uhoh21:

nurse stole over 60,000.00 in goods
actually, she was a nurse at the hospital as i understand, and what i dont get is the law had been watching her internet traffic somehow, for months and realized she was making major transactions like buying things and such,so they went to her home and opened her gargage to find all this stuff like riding lawn mowers ,big screen tv's what in the world could she have been doing with all that stuff,a girl i work with said she was a patient at her dr's office and she said you would have never thought someone like her could have did that unless somehow she got mixed up with the wrong type of people,i guess it takes all kinds!

Medication Aides
i live in n.c. and i started out as a cma and as far as the duties go for a cma,its really up to the dr's as to what you do and as to how far your responsibilties go, i know i done things that were beyond my duties as i am sure we all have at one job or another,so i can say the best learning tool for me was hands -on learning from dr's and other nurses at the time and i think that is the best experience, and also,i have found that dr's here would rather train someone the way they want things done as opposed to someone fresh out of school!! i have actually been turned down for a job because the dr felt i had too much experience! its weird but i would like to hear how other states work!

I guess I'm a florist now too....
i agree, i would never bluntly refuse to help anyone, but it erks me so bad when patients families or their ''friends'' that come in their with them, and its like instead of them being seen for their illness, all of the sudden they have registered at the HILTON,and no one else is their but them!!! we all have experienced patients like this, but you know the people that come with them are worse than the patient is!

Can anything be done about feeling like a waitress?
i know exactly how you feel,i have complaints made to my supervisor and the dr's only because i would not help a patient to the car! when their family member brought them in their!!!!!!!!!:angryfire i did not know that when a patient comes in to see the dr or go into the ER that there was a sign on the wall that said "NURSES HAVE NOTHING TO DO BUT WAIT ON THE PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS" someone please tell me you can relate!!@@#???

What Gets to You??
hi i got your message! yes, this is correct! i work in a dr's office and before i went to work their she was asked to help do something or actually just be their for the procedure due to lack of help and everyone that works their also has said she has been like that every since! she no's it all and no's nothing!!! i have spoke with her about this a couple weeks ago,it really did not do any good and i have witnessed her do things and i have gently told her YOU CAN NOT DO THAT! also i have told her i can do my job i no what is going on,i cant do your job so please give me some room here, she takes anything said to her as if someone is trying to step in her toes,i live in north carolina and i no the rules are different everywhere but i am worried she is going to do something stupid or mess up and cause the dr's alot of troulbe. also i was under the empression that if you were not trained or cert. or whatever then you have no buisness dealing with patients i also said to her "what is the purpose of me being here if you are trying to do everything"? she has ran alot of nurses off in the past for this but this is one girl she will not run off! any advice will help

Why a C-Section?
i can say for me i had two c-sections and as i know every preg.is different as is every women, the first time around i did take longer to heal and i was not a nurse and not very well educated at all about the whole process, the second time around i got up from the hospital bed made myself walk up the hall and i left the hosp. the next morning and i was fine now i will not say by any means i did not hurt at times but for me MENTALLY i could not handle the thought of something that big coming out of something rather small!!! lol:chuckle and besides you can barely see the scar, and it doesnt make you less of a women giving birth lady partslly or c-section so it really depends on ones thought and feelings towards it,

What Gets to You??
well this may be a little off the subject but it has bothered me every since i have taken this job! what bothers me is someone that you work with, actually is suspose to work in the office, tries to tell you how to do your job, when they should be in their office doing pay roll or something ! and i am on the floor taking care of patients or getting blood or whatever! and you have someone that does not have any experience try to tell you something that you know is not right!!!!! i am careful with how i respond to her because she is the office mgr. so how do you deal with someone like that!!! :angryfire

I guess I'm a florist now too....
hi! i am new to this site,i am a nurse and i want to say this burned me up when i read it!!:angryfire this happens to me as well, and it seems like it happens in the most inconvient times,i am always in a fasted paced mode anyway, and it always takes one inconsiderant family member to try to slow you down.i work for an urgent care clinic, and their was a daughter that brought her mother in simply because she was acting "strange" as she put it,the daughter looked to be in her late 40's early 50's, so anywho the daughter insist's that I help her mother into the bathroom and get her cleaned up because she knew she had a bm on the way there! well that did not fly with me at all i looked dead at her and said "the bathroom is the 3rd door on the left, you are more than welcome to use it ,i am very busy and i am the only nurse here at this time. needless to say the hag daughter did not take her own mother to the bathroom,!!!!!!!!! waht does that say about family?
