  1. I don't have any information for you moving400! Good luck [emoji4]
  2. It says here: https://www.childrens.com/for-healthcare-professionals/education-training/residency-programs/nurse-residency
  3. They've updated their website to say the application wi Dow is from January 1-February 5. I'm guessing if HR likes our applications, we will get a call to pick our unit preferences in that time. I hope you (and I ) get one as well! It seems like a great facility with a great residency.
  4. Good thinking ! [emoji258] The struggle begins...
  5. Hi ms.simone! Yes, I have seen you on these Texas residency threads as well! So, I did apply to the May residency, but they no longer offer a May start. It must have been a mistake, and it was only up for about two weeks. I did apply to the new July application that opened today. I'm crossing my fingers! Dallas would be a better location for me, but obviously TCH is an amazing facility as well.
  6. Ah, finally! Do you know when the summer residency starts? I want to assume July but just am not sure.
  7. Cool! I applied as soon as a I saw it! I was skeptical since the staff I've been talking to have only ever mentioned February and July. Thanks for letting me know. [emoji4][emoji295]️
  8. Do any of you know about the residency program start dates? I was aware of February and July but I saw a listening on their website for a May 2016 internship. Is this a mistake or do they really offer a May start?
  9. A great pair of shoes. I really like Asics. A great groups of nursing school friends. Sleep. Don't forget to sleep. And exercise. Patience. Nursing school is hard and can be very disorganized. Inspiration. Focus.
  10. Hi! I am curious if anyone knows when the residency programs are offered each year? I was going to apply to Winter/Spring, but I assumed it would be too soon for me. I can't seem to find any updated information on their annual start dates, though. Thanks!
  11. I was a student nurse in my pediatric clinical. I printed some thank you notes to fill out for each RN an NA I was going to work with that day and handed them out before I left. I volunteered myself for any task the patient, the RN, or the NA needed to get done. I even did the vitals for some of the other NAs. Basically, I made a great impression. The same day, I asked one of the NAs if the unit was short staffed. She said absolutely and introduced me to the Nurse Educator. I got my resume, which I ALWAYS brought to my peds clinical, and gave it to the Educator. She called me two weeks later for an interview and was hired that day. [emoji258][emoji171]
  12. $16 as a per diem NA. Some per diems here start at $22. "Here" is a large city in CA.
  13. So sorry for the typos. I got really excited. I can't edit this on my app so I hope you can decipher it! 🤔
  14. Hi vivaciousjo! I am ONE WEEK away from graduating from an ABSN program. It is a rigorous 15 months but manageable if you focus your energy in the right places. I have managed to keep a 3.95 plus volunteering and now working per diem as an NA. my program felt very disorganized, but I hear that's just what nursing school is like. Patho and med-surg were the most challenging classes but also the best classes. They are hard but so so so fascinating as that's the bulk of nursing science. Make friends and have fun! There was a lot of negativity and complaining in my program. I understand letting off steam every know and then, but it started to bog me down. I cut the whiners out and found some people who made me laugh so hard I cried. That's been crucial to my wellbeing. You will have lots and lots of homework including tedious care plans. Try to be inspired by what you're doing nothing and studying. You're gonna be a nurse! It should spark some interest in you! I recommend not getting the MSN just yet. To each her own of course but my idea of nursing and my career in nursing is a little different than it was when I was applying. It might save you money and time to get the BSN and start working at the bedside first. Good luck! It's beautiful on the other side. [emoji4]
