Could my criminal history be grounds to bar me from license in California

I did in Dec...and passed my boards.- Could my criminal history be grounds to bar me from license in California
I'm currently going through something similar with the Maryland Board of Nursing. They go before the board here twice a month. So for me the 27th and the 28th is when they will make there decision for muah. I checked no when they said I should've checked yes. I checked NO because I wasn't charged it was actually thrown out of court back in 92. They said they go alllll the way back to 1978. So i went and got a disposition and carried it to them. I was trying to figure out how I was able to even take NCLEX..... but anyway they said because as finger printed they was able to see the charge even though I wasn't convicted. It wasn't even me it was someone I was with but they hauled all of us down to a holding cell. I had to give to references and write a statement about wjat happened and bring in the dssition showing it was thrown out. So I'm just waiting until the end of the month for them to make their decision.- Husband with juvenile record, denied LPN.
Yea I'm kinda going through the same thing. I passed Nclex but now there holding my license number for something that I done at 16 that was thrown out of court. They asked me to bring in a disposition so I'm waiting. I had to turn my paperwork in to the review specialist. It will be a week tomorrow for me. I would say try and get it expunge if possible. I don't even know how mine came up since I wasn't charged. Waiting patiently- Review board for MBON(new nurse)
I wanted to know how long does it take for the review board or the review specialist to make a decision on releasing your license number? I had a case that was dismissed over 23 years ago but it came back when the Maryland Board of Nursing did there back round check. I had to go and get a disposition showing I wasn't charge and the case was thrown out. Since I wasn't charged I didn't think it would show up. Not to mention I was a teenager at the time. But they informed me they go back to 1978. So just trying to see if anyone had the same type of issue and how long did it take. I'm asking because the boards told me anywhere from a week or two weeks...another review specialist told me by the end of the month, another told me for sure by the end of April which I think is absurd. Any advice? Thanks in advance, waiting patiently- St. Michael College of Allied Health or Career Training Solutions?
It's true I graduated December 21st 2017...and passed NCLEX for PN. You won't make it if you cheat. THEY don't PLAY! The school is hard not denying that but it is possible to pass and graduate.- St. Michael College of Allied Health or Career Training Solutions?
Correct! I also attend SM'S and one thing for sure if you make it out you will know your stuff! I failed maternity and peds only because of the math....totally my fault. The school is fast paced. If your easily stressed this is not the school for you. Never in a million years did I think I would've made it thus far in the program. Yes I know two people who has graduated and passed the boards. Hopefully while waiting for the next class to start I'll be ready this go round. This school is hard no doubt about that. But you must READ!!!!!!It's no way around it....Hopefully I'll be one of the lucky 1's this July or August. Set myself back two months failing the two courses. But I'm more determined. Update coming soon....:) Nothing but positive vibes....- St. Michael College of Allied Health or Career Training Solutions?
:nurse:Against everyone advice I started at Saint Micheal's school for nursing. It's a very well detailed program. My only complaint is the amount of chapters we cover per day. The test are fair as long as you read and study in your study book. You MUST read! You must be able to keep up with the fast paced and it's a lot of info in 8 hours....you must take notes and come to class prepared. Other than that no complaints soooo far on my end....you must apply yourself..- St. Michael College of Allied Health or Career Training Solutions?
Hi Amina, I thought the math was actually easy. Basically it was alot of %'s and pre-algebra. I scored a 89% and I'm terrible in math. I'm actually going to the one on Bladenburg Road in DC. It's not to far from my house. I work night shift so after I drop my youngest off at school it will only take me 30 minutes to get there. Actually I haven't started yet...Just paid my fees and orientation is on the 5th of January. I have heard alot of horror stories about this school, but I'm trying to have an open mind. Being 40 I don't have alot of options left. I've been in the medical field for over 18 years I'm currently working as an EMT/MOA rotating. I'm hoping I can swing the morning shift since it starts at 8am...and I don't get off unitl 7:30...alot of the current students I have met said they are understanding about not being there at 8 on the nose because alot of the students come from Baltimore to this location. I've heard some horror stories, but I have a friend schedule to graduate in March and she said it's alot of reading and studying, but basically alot of reading. She said they do offer extra credit if you need help maintaining your 75%. Hope this was helpful let me know what you decide to do....- Future Nurse
I recently applied for nursing school and was accepted to my surprise. The school asked me if I had or have any charges pending.I explained to them when I was 23 I wrote a bad check (current age 39) which resulted in community service and me paying court fees and the check off. They advised me to go and do my own backround check because the one they offer go back pretty far.My question, where can I go to get a backround check done and is it possible that the old charge will show up?I currently work as a MA and never had any problems getting a job in the medical field.Any advice would be great.:up:I've called police dept's and all kinds of local service to get a backround check to no avail....Washington,DC area.....Thanks in advance- St. Michael College of Allied Health or Career Training Solutions?
Why are people labeling this a bad school?I'm suppose to take the test to attend in Jan tomorrow. Is it the teachers,a scam or just never get anywhere????I just want to be sure.I really had my hopes up. Thanks- St. Michael College of Allied Health or Career Training Solutions?
St.Micheal's School of Nursing:I'm glad I came across this and not a minute to late. I'm suppose to go tomorrow to take the Hesi test for the LPN program. I was really hopeful since the school isn't that far from me. I currently have several friends enrolled in the program, one due to graduate this March and they love it. Has anyone attended either school,Va or DC? - St. Michael College of Allied Health or Career Training Solutions?
