Hello everyone, I am looking here for advice because I can't seem to find help anywhere else! My husband is one of the best men I know.. He completed LPN school in October and graduated the top of his class.. He was preparing to take his boards test when we received a letter in the mail from the board of nursing saying he was denied.. For something he did as a 12 year old boy and for not "disclosing" it. It was such a minor incident and was supposed to be sealed when he turned 18 that he honestly didn't even think to mention it! He had brought an air soft gun to school once in his backpack and another kid had told on him and was apparently charged for it but to his knowledge it was supposed to be off his record when he became an adult.. Another major problem is this all happened in another state then which we currently reside, we have been calling the juvenile court in which this happened, and yes it was supposed to be sealed and they don't know what went wrong.. he has taken to the steps to seal it but was told it would probably take a year, and the man we spoke to at the board of nursing said that may not even matter since they already know about it.. He said the only thing he can do is write a letter to the board of nursing explaining what happened. That just seems so hopeless. My poor husband is heartbroken, he hasn't had a single bad mark on his record since this incident and he was just a KID! I guess my questions to you guys is do you think there is anything else he could possibly do? Has anyone ever experienced something similar and was still able to obtain a license? What do you think the odds are of this letter working? and what are some things he should include in the letter?
