Transitioning to ICU-which to choose
Looking for feedback opinions on jobs in different ICU’s. My hospital has several.. MICU/sicu.. trauma ,cvicu, neuro etc. I love cardiac and want to learn more so I was leaning towards the cvicu.. but there is also a float pool which I thought might be a way to learn a lot across the board, make myself more marketable in the future should the opportunity arise. I did read a post about floating between icus which did give me some insight.. thinking it wouldnt be bad to settle into one unit and going from there. Does anyone think its better to start off in say a MICU/sicu to get the critical care fundamentals down and then eventually go to cvicu? Or will I see a range of things in the cvicu not just limited to cardic related pts? Im in no rush to make a move .. currently in med surg now still learning something new every day I just kind of want an idea so if the opportunity presents itself I won’t hesitate. Thank you and I appreciate the feedback in advance !

Outpatient To Acute Hemodialysis Tips
Hi! So since that post I actually lost the per diem acutes job at the hospital after like 5 shifts..they were bought out by a contract with Davita ? so after that happened I decided to cross within fresenius Because I didn't want to start over completely somewhere else- and depending on the location u have to do crazy amount of orientation. The first site I've been training at is a rehab.. so even tho it’s considered “acutes” its not the pts are stable similar to Chronics.. im hoping my next site is at an actual hosp. The difference mostly is the documenting system.. u can have 1 or 2 pts at a time and u document q 15 mins ..plus being in a place that u don't with ppl who don't know u or dialysis is different. At its core dialysis is dialysis.. once your comfortable with that then I think everything else is a small learning curve. I've been looking for Dialysis ppl to network with.. let me know if your interested ill give u my IG !

Outpatient To Acute Hemodialysis Tips
what company do you work for? I had 6 mo experience and I landed an acutes per diem job, even though its taken some time with the process and already having a ft time. I don't think the 1 yr rule is set in stone, it was probably a suggestion on a time frame, but by the time you have everything all set up you will be at 1 yr already anyways!

not to sound like a b.. but i think your preceptors are not very good ones, esp to let that get back to you and to comment after only 3 wks .. ridiculous!

OR nurses pls comment
i think a lot of doctors are d-heads lol regardless of specialty...but I've worked as a secretary for surgeons in an office and they are definitely a different breed !

thanks for the comment, been a nurse a little over a yr now, first 6mo was on a med surg floor but it was overall an awful experience and i ended up leaving to go to community health center in adult medicine...needless to say i do no love it, i like some of my coworkers and the job itself is not hard but its definitely not tickling my fancy. i need more of a clinical aspect...and I've always wanted to specialize but I'm trying to take my time to find the right job for me because i don't want to switch jobs for a long time.
