I am a FNP and I work in neurosurgery. I think your nursing experience weighs heavily on where you get hired. At least it did in my case

I am also a NP and this is also my 1st time applying. I was also curious if they look at your spouses income... They didn't ask for our W-2s so I don't know how they would have that info, right?

My job allowed me to start without my license as Long as I had proof that I passed the exam. I received a printout the day of the exam that said I passed. I used that time to start my orientation period but I was only allowed to practice in the scope...

Go for the NP position. I was in a very similar position as you a few months ago. I worked in my neuro/trauma ICU for 11 years and when I finished school, I had an option of taking a NP position with neurosurgery or taking a clinical Manager position...

Yes, my hospital pays about $37/ HR for per diem. But you don't get differentials with per diem.
