unfortunately no, called LAC and spoke to Maria and she said that if I don't cleared by the 14th, I will be deferred to the fall semester. Not a good year end for me. I hope I get clearance soon...like ASAP!!

Just got off the phone with HR, still delayed. Hopefully I get cleared this week before the holiday break. Lt330 must be a sigh of relief for you. I'm still holding my breath. Righteousjenn, when I spoke to HR, I asked for the live scan personnel or phone number and she said that I wasn't able to contact them. Womp womp womp.

No new news here, status still shows "delayed" the last time I got printed was maybe 8 yrs ago, so maybe that's the issue.

It'll be 3 weeks this Wed. I'll let you know when they update me and please let me know when you hear something as well.

I just got off the phone with HR and am too "delayed." Lt330 try not to worry as I hear this is not uncommon. Sometimes the prints are hard to read, they might have us redo it. HR said to call back thurs, so that's what I'll do. Will keep you posted.

Ok that's good to know...I fret only because the gentleman that processed the fingerprint said for me to call HR and schedule the health clearance 5 days from that day. But when I called the school, front desk said she'll email with further instructions once the results are back. Two different instructions so I naturally went into panic mode lol. Ok I just have to be patience. I'll update as soon as I hear something too, this way we have an idea about the wait time, gosh I hope it'll be sooner than 3 weeks. Paperwork are due by Jan 14. just fyi, had the live scan done on wed, day before Thanksgiving.

I heard some whispers on campus about the program being under "review" but don't think the program was canceled. I know some nurses who graduated andpass the board exam from elac and they seem pretty competent. Maybe the pass rate is low because others aren't trying as hard. I think the students are taking the nclex too lightly.

Oh one more thing, others say they get calgrants and Pell grants and some other aids, not sure if that'll help you. Sorry I don't get any of these grants so I can't elaborate how they get em. I know they applied thru fafsa, hey I did too but I get only bog which I am grateful for. But books and everything else is charged on my credit card. I'm unemployed too...go figure.

Oh man, bog is the only thing I get in terms of grants. Shoot! And LAC is 2400 per semester, they have this deferment plan that drops it 700 per semester and a chance of waiving the balance if we work for county for 3 years after passing the nclex. Not sure what the criterias are or how competitive it is. Hoping to find out next Friday. I'm on the wait list for rio. I was told that I'm on top of the list. Anyhow let me know what your ultimate decision is.

I was hoping to decide after the pre-reg, but that's not possible because that's happening the same day. ... so to answer your question, LAC, would be the school for me. But I'm still waiting on Rio hondo, rio has a great program too.

About the booklist and class schedule for spring 2016, Erica who sits at the front desk said it will be provided to us at prereg.

the list wasn't attached, but it said they will for over what's current during p registration. I'm going to drop off the Lil blue card this afternoon, I'll ask about that list and let you all know. But I wouldn't worry about it right now.

Thank you Lotus10, I'm not sure which school I would attend if I were to get into riohondo. Maybe I won't get into rio, that'll make life easier lol. I did get into Elac's nursing program too but ya that was my back up plan hahah. I have to crunch alot of numbers and see if any of the schools offer childcare for the students and for a discounted price. So ya... I have plenty of questions for the school. Enough about that, see you all on 11/20! Congrats to Lt330 in getting in. Good feeling I know :) Oh btw, just fyi I remembered from the info session that LAC Is not a state funded program, so if relying on calgrants or any grants funded by the state to pay for tuition ~ pretty much screwed, might have to pay out of pocket. A prospective student asked about the whole Fafsa thing and the counselor just emphasized on the loan deferment contract. Just a heads up. We'll get a better understanding during prereg. K ttyl
