  1. For anyone who was accepted, when are deposits, etc due by? Just trying to keep dates in mind for when they will start moving down the waitlist.
  2. I took Eng 101 partially online and partially in person and that worked out well. I'm currently taking Eng 102 online and it's really great. The professor is awesome so that probably has a lot to do with it. We read something every week and then have to write a discussion post from a different literary perspective and there's usually a journal entry as well. I think there's just 2 papers the entire semester and no quizzes/tests.
  3. Oh no, that's terrible! I was thinking it would be just the other way around...waitlist to accepted. So sorry that happened. ??
  4. I don't think there's any way I'll get off the waitlist. My GPA isn't as high as some others who haven't been accepted. I'll plan on reapplying to the LPN to RN pathway and hopefully I'll join those of you who were accepted for the Spring 2027 semester. Maybe I'll retake a class that I got an A- in to try to get an A+ ???. Congratulations and good luck to everyone who was accepted!
  5. I got the same thing. I did ask about it via email but haven't heard back.
  6. I emailed yesterday and just heard back that they do not give out waitlist placement.
  7. For those waiting for an email, keep checking the application portal too. Mine was updated a while ago but I still haven't received an email.
  8. Thank you! I feel like it's been so long, I wasn't sure anymore.
  9. Which classes do they use to figure out GPA? Is it just A&P1, Eng 101 or 102, Pysch 101, and CSS?
  10. So the way the Challenge program works is that I would be joining the regular nursing program but would enter at the start of the 2nd semester and skip the 1st semester. The only spots available are from the students who drop out, fail out, or take a leave of absence. They usually have like 20ish spots available and 15ish LPN applicants. This year they had 9 spots available and 34 applicants. Because I've been an LPN over 3 years, I would have to do the challenge program. If I had been an LPN less then 3 years, I could do the bridge program where students enter in the 3rd semester. I didn't want to take the chance of the same thing happening in January next year so figured if I could get into this program, it's more work but at least I'll be in. Thank you! Good luck to you too! Yes there were only 9 spots available this time.
  11. Hey everyone! I'm right here with you all, awaiting decision notices. I am actually an LPN and applied to the LPN to RN challenge program that started this past January but unfortunately I did not get in. There were more applicants then ever and less spots then ever before so most people did not get in. So, I decided to just apply to the full nursing program. I know when I applied, I was told it would be mid March sometime.
  12. @mia92929 have you applied to the LPN to RN Program at BCC? I applied to challenge program but was put on the wait-list. They said I would receive a letter by Friday letting me know if space opened up or not but never received anything so I'm assuming that's a no.
  13. While I understand that this can be frustrating, please know that there are nurses like me, grateful for you and your ER. I work at a medical day program with adults with mental illness. I can't tell you how many times I've sent clients to the ER by ambulance for non-emergent ailments. I used to feel guilty but now I know it's in my clients best interest and am just grateful there's an option. Urgent care often isn't an option due to transportation issues, lack of family/friends. PCP's frequently don't have open appts.
  14. You might want to try looking into a forbearance for your student loans. I just had to apply for an economic hardship forbearance for a few months due to some financial issues and they didn't even ask for documentation or further info. I applied one day and it was granted the next day. It's worth a try!
  15. While I am not jealous of other nurses, I do look forward to the day I'm doing more and am able to gain some different experience. I see some of my classmates who have moved on to some interesting things where they're learning and using their skills. Due to having 2 young children and not much support I stick with the job with amazing hours and flexibility but not really doing what I want. I know once my kids are older I can move on to something else but then again I may look back and regret leaving a low stress job even for the better experience.
  16. I've worked with a young woman with Retts in her home and again when she moved to the group home I worked in. She had limited functional ability with her hands and typically would lightly clap or wring them most of the day. We had sensory bins filled with pasta, rice, cotton balls, etc that she enjoyed even just laying her hands in. We would play music a lot. We would do arts and crafts hand over hand and finger painting...even feet/toe painting. She was a young woman so we tried to do age appropriate things like pedicures, looking at magazines, and doing different hairdos. Water play and walks were her favorite things. It's unfortunate you can't take her for a walk. It would be good for both of you. Hopefully something can be worked out or you can find another job. I can't imagine how long those 8 hours feel. Good luck!
  17. I work at a Medical Adult Day Health program and I think it's a good job as an LPN. In my area in MA typically LPN's are not hired in hospitals except for the occasional urgent care/express care type job in an ER. I have seen acute care hospital positions available in the Boston area. There are an abundance of opportunities in LTC/Rehab. There are also positions working in group homes with individuals with DD or mental illness, urgent care, MD office, home care, some visiting, and corrections. There are the occasional school and adult day or day hab positions also.
  18. I'm in MA and work in an Adult Day Health program and make $21/hr with 2.5 yrs of experience. I could easily make more money but the hours and flexibility are amazing. We close at 4 so can never be mandated and are closed Christmas and Thanksgiving. I have friends working in LTC who make around the same maybe a little more on day shift but work weekends, forced OT, etc. I was working at a residential school for kids making $20 plus differentials. They recently went up on pay rate so now it starts at $26.50 overnights. In this area home care starts around $26/$27. It's not easy finding a job though. The good jobs have tons of applicants.
