  1. You have so many more options to try within nursing! Don't give up yet . I didn't even try to go into acute care I just knew it wasn't for me .
  2. Never random only pre employment but I've only been a nurse 3 years. My current job did not even require a pre employment screen ( not acute care)
  3. I would exhaust all nursing options before totally giving up on the career!
  4. Try St Vincent's behavioral health in Westport they are always hiring . You apply through main hospital webpage st Vincent's medical center
  5. If you want to live a less stressful life I suggest completing the protocol with both subjective and objective findings, Get their vitals. And Medicate accordingly .... We are not going to change a drug addict by holding a prn dose of Ativan. It's the truth. Now if they are sedated and look like they are gonna fall over then obviously u would hold the Ativan. Same goes for vitals, if they are low I will hold it. Use your common sense and nursing judgment. Also, some pts won't know they have a prn Ativan available (I have this one dumb doctor who puts everyone on ciwa ) I won't be the one to tel them
  6. I'm in ct. Ratio is 1:8. Charge usually only takes 1 or 2 Pts and does admissions
  7. Hi guys, I was just hired as an RN to provide nursing oversight for group homes. Wondering if anyone has any advice for me. Also down the line I would love to work from home as on call rn for group homes. How hard is it to get a position like that?? Is my goal realistic? Thanks for the help
