  1. So we use epic in my ER and i see some people have pre-written quick notes saved on their setting and i am just wondering what are some of your saved quick notes out there (I can see a quick note for discharge would be a great time saver as well as wound care)
  2. Hi ! so I am having a hard time coming up with a medication project topic for my class and since ER probally see the most different type of meds i was hoping you guys would help me out in picking a topic so basically the assignment is Talk about a medication safety concern in the field and ways to improve med administration and patient safety? One person choose to do a project on IV Potassium administration and the "no-nos" involved with that I am having the hardest time being specific with my topic so i would love to hear what you guys think
  3. Hi! :) I am a new ER nurse and i have never worked in a hospital and am getting super nervous. I had the most fun during clinical in the ER so i am thankful at this opportunity! so with all that in mind i was wondering which technical skill do you guys practice everyday/ the most? (I have looked into threads with similar questions but most of the answers where like relating to setting priorities and time management however i am looking for something i can check off on a skill list) p.s I will be in a level 1 trauma center:)
  4. Thank you for updating us :)
  5. largo has a critical care program for new grad but they will most likely put you in a step down tele/pcu unit and they DO NOT have the best reputation and some have said its and "un-safe" work environment
  6. just graduated keiser sarasota. my program was a good program (cant speak for every program that keiser has). My class and the class before me all had 100% nclex pass rate. we all have job offers and even some at rotation sites. YES IT IS EXPENSIVE but i was able to reduce my cost by getting scholarship also its only 16 months as opposed to 24 month which is what comm. college offer so that lost of income can made up with a job 8 months before you peers. no regrets going to keiser its a respected brand now. i have interviewed with 6 hospitals got 4 yes on the spot and am currently deciding between 2 of the top hospital in the state so yea good investment.

my heart goes out to you! the fact that you took action and did your best with the lack of training they offered you shows to me you will have success in this. this was such an emotional post i started crying near the end cause i too will be starting on the icu as a new grad ahh i just dont even know what to say all i can think of is to tell you what i would want to hear from my colleague and its that you did your best and the mistake that happened isnt cause of you alone so dont bear all the weight. learn, act and move on. Love you I think your a rock star !
  8. Yikes yes i was offered nights on the pcu/tele unit and they make you sign a contract for 2 years as well as during the 12-13 week training period they pay you 15$ an hour which is kinda crazy to me but i guess those programs are expensive i heard about a strike that happened there but that is all thank you for shedding some light into the situation and actually i have a great job offer at North Florida and tampa general that i am investigating and i am torn between the two
  9. thank you i beleive i would be trained in the PCU and then would have the opp to move directly to the ICU at North Florida. However tampa is a level 1 trauma and that would stand out more in application i think
  10. Hi! So guys I have been on an applying freennnzy since i passed my board 2 weeks ago. I have applied for over 100+ job been in 5 job interview in about 5 business days and got some pretty great offers but my top to are Tampa general new grad program (ER) and North Florida (Critical care new grad program) since i live in the sarasota area i do not KNOW much about these hospital beside tampa being awesome all around but would someone help me make this decision process a bit simplier by letting me know what they would do in my situation ( i would have to move for both) My end goal is to become a CRNA (5 year goal) XoXoXo
  11. Hi! So I am a new grad and recently was offered a job at Largo Medical center. I am not from the area so I do NOT know much of anything about the employer and the kind of reputation it has. The floor i am most interested in working is telemetry. Does anyone know anything about Largo medical center? the good? the bad? and dare I say the ugly? Thanks guys :)
