  1. I took both Micro and Nursing Fundamentals in the same semester last Fall. While it was definitely challenging, it was very doable. I found that a lot of the infection control parts of fundamentals correlated well with what we were learning in Micro and vice versa, which helped while studying for both classes and to reinforce the material. I did fine in both classes, so don't be discouraged if you need to take both at the same time. You can do it! :)
  2. I would say that's it's absolutely normal to feel that way. I have felt that way, and I still feel that way. I'm starting my first semester of nursing school in 3 days. But even though I'm scared, I'm also really excited and eager to start learning about the career I have always dreamed of doing and have felt called to do. Am I scared and anxious to start clinicals and nursing classes? Yes. But I'm not going to allow my fear to control me and to get in the way of my dream in becoming a nurse. So, are you really interested in nursing and really want to become a nurse? If so, try it! You'll never know about the amazing nurse you could have become if you don't try. Be courageous! Have courage to go for the thing that you've always wanted to do with your life. Having courage isn't a lack of fear, but doing something even when you're scared to death to do it. Best of luck in the pursuit of your nursing degree! You can do it :)
  3. What area do you live in? I have found that smaller, private schools with BSN programs sometimes tend to be less competitive and have minimum GPA requirements in the ranges of 2.7-3.0
  4. It's definitely possible to get a 24 or higher with a lower score in math! I got a 26 on the ACT with my math score being a 17. So you can definitely do it! :) And it took 2 weeks for me to be able to look at my scores. Hope this helps and encourages you! :)
  5. I received A's in both sections of A&P, and my biggest piece of advice would be to start studying for the exams on day 1 of class. What I mean by that is to read/skim your textbook before lecture and then review your notes later that day after lecture to reinforce what you just learned. Also make flash cards after each lecture of the most important info you learned, as well as review your flash cards/notes before lecture to remind yourself of what was dicussed previously in lecture. Doing all of this will also help you to identify any topics or areas of info that you don't understand so that you can get help/clarification as soon as you become confused. The most important thing is to not fall behind on learning and understanding processes and concepts because once you fall behind, it's difficult to catch up. If you do these things, by the time exams roll around, you should only need to review information that you already know and understand. I hope that this helps! You can do it! :)
  6. I'm starting my first semester in my nursing program on the 20th. I am so excited to start nursing classes and clinicals, but I'm also really freaked out about how difficult it's going to be. I'm a 4.0 student right now, but I've heard that nursing classes are completely different from regular college classes. I feel as though I'm a freshman again and that I have no idea how to study for nursing classes. I was wondering if anyone had specific tips and advice for doing well in classes. Thanks!
