TEAS HARD?
I just took the TEAS V on April 28, 2016 and in MY opinion it is very over rated. You mentioned you just took the GED and I did too recently as well. I felt the GED was harder because we actually have to write essays for the English part. I passed the TEAS with a 73% with only 4 hours of study the night before. Not that I recommend doing that but I feel that's an ok score for someone who didn't study. I recommend watching the TEAS V videos on YouTube because they go over just what you need to know. I went over the ATI study manual but it can be overwhelming and you will not be tested on all those topics. I also purchased one of the online practice tests offered by ATI which I felt really helped with my timing and getting a feel of the actual test. I believe I even got some exact questions on the actual exam from the practice test.

Nursing School Essay
Hello! I have an essay for admission into a local community college ADN program that I'd love if ya'll could provide some feedback on. The prompt of the essay is as follows: Describe why you wish to be considered for our Registered Nursing programs. Include any healthcare and/or pre-nursing experience and anything else you would like the Admission Committee to know about your desire to be a Registered Nurse. Below is my essay: I will not say I knew I wanted to be a nurse since I was a child because that was simply not the case. Growing up I've had to struggle through many life obstacles including being in foster care as well as losing a child. The outstanding compassionate and empathetic care I received from nurses during the loss of my child sparked an interest in me to consider nursing as a potential career. Having no previous medical experience, I considered volunteering at my local hospital to get both a closer look into the health care field as well as give my time to help others. I've had the pleasure of volunteering at California Hospital Medical Center and Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Both experiences allowed me to gain a little more insight into the world of nursing and strengthened my career choice and my passion for nursing. I now see nurses as not just caregivers, but also as advocates and role models for their patients and communities. I am currently employed as a Medical Assistant, and although my scope of practice is very limited and in no way comparable to that of an RN, it has allowed me to interact with patients and develop better communication skills as well as has provided me with more knowledge of the health care field. I am aware that the career I have chosen is both emotionally and physically draining, and often does not get the credit it is due, but I have witnessed first-hand the tremendous impact nurses have on individual's lives at hospitals I have volunteered and through personal experiences. Nurses are at the forefront of patient care every day and selflessly give care to the best of their abilities. There is nothing I want more than to join their ranks in offering excellent care. As a nurse, I'd seek opportunities to help me better myself and grow professionally. My goal is to gain experience at a hospital and then seek an opportunity that will allow me to utilize this experience to provide medical care to underrepresented rural areas with minimal to no access to quality preventive care. Getting accepted into the (insert school name here) Registered Nursing program will allow me to embark on this challenging yet rewarding career path and will provide me with the necessary training needed to be a successful nurse and fulfill my goals.

12 hr shift makeup routine
I have oily skin as well. I use Revlon Color stay foundation for Oily/Combination skin and it works wonders. The formula isnt thick but provides great coverage. I don't even need concealer anymore. I've also realized that the more or better I moisturize the less oily my skin gets. Having dry skin will definitely cause your skin to compensate. I use 2 moisturizers, Cetaphil Face moisturizer and Palmer's Facial Moisturizer, both with SPF.

Allergic to alcohol?
Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. Can this alcohol still be used as a disinfectant?

Allergic to alcohol?
Is it possible to be allergic to isopropyl alcohol? When I get blood drawn I get this horrible rash for 2-3 days. Itching only eases with hydrocortisone. I also have to touch alcohol a lot at work without gloves and it causes a burning sensation in my fingers and something that looks like bubbles underneath my skin. I am going to get checked out by my doctor but I was wondering if you guys had ever heard of that or had patients with a similar allergy. I feel weird for being allergic to rubbing alcohol lol 😑

Fetal demise
I lost my son 32 weeks in utero due to a cord incident. This was my first pregnancy so it was a very difficult thing to go through. The nurses acknowledgement of my baby's life is something that has and will continue to stay with me. The tender way they handled my baby is something I will always be grateful for. If you have the resources, please offer to take photos. Even if one of the parents doesn't want to, ask the other because sometimes in the moment you're in denial and don't want any reminder of the truth, but later they might regret not haven taken pictures. Those first photos fresh out the womb are the best, because once death starts settling in we do change. Also, I was given a Memory Box with info on how to cope with loss and some mementos, like the baby beanie that was placed on my baby's head when his pictures were taken. Give your condolences, and reassure mom you are there if she needs you.

Yes, I love the material of Grey's Anatomy and was interested in buying a pair but when I tried them on I noticed they were too big for me, even their smallest size. I'm rather petite (5"2' 109lbs) and prefer a much more fitted top which is what attracted me to Wonder Wink. Do the Grey's Anatomy scrubs shrink after wash? I really do want to give them a try but Im afraid to buy them and just not use them.

Scrubs
I've noticed as I shop for scrubs (I usually buy Wonder Wink) that the material is either more polyester than cotton or vice versa. Which material is better for both comfort and flexibility as well as durability? And are there any other better materials in other brands I should give a try? Thanks 😊
