  1. This post is rubbing me the wrong way for some reason. Full disclosure, I'm a new nursing student. I have zero clinical experience and have dealt with neither ADN or BSN bedside nurses, so I have no way to compare the two. I am, however, pursuing my BSN because the hospital that I eventually want to begin my career with will only accept BSNs for their nurse residency program. I am 34. Mommy and Daddy are not paying for my education, I am. I am not arrogant and I firmly believe that a new grad ADN and BSN are on level playing fields after they pass the NCLEX. I don't know why I felt the need to chime in. I'm just getting a real "us vs. them" vibe.
  2. Love that, Lola. Thanks. "One day at a time."
  3. I have been feeling exactly the same way. I have KILLED it in my A&P classes. Straight As on every system. And now, since I've been accepted to a (highly competitive) nursing school I'm terrified that I have forgotten everything. Luckily I took really good notes for review, but I definitely know that panicked feeling. My aunt is a nurse and I shared my feelings about this with her. Her sentiments were similar to HouTx.
  4. I'm not sure about the CNA experience, but they don't do interviews anymore.
  5. I think it varies, but at my school we don't have to get our CPR cert until clinicals start (next spring for me). I haven't seen any nursing schools require it to apply, though.
  6. You nailed it! Awesome!
  7. I hate my online speech class. Haaaaaaaaaate. lol That is all.
  8. I'm indifferent about GFMs. I roll my eyes the ridiculous ones and if it is a friend who is in need, I'll donate money personally, not through a service. People set those things up for not-so-altruistic reasons too. During the Gatlinburg fires a mom and her two daughters passed away. The grandmother set up a GFM for funeral expenses, but it was later learned that they had been estranged for many years and grandmother was trying to profit from the tragedy. So I definitely don't donate to the viral GFMs. I just don't trust them, unfortunately.
  9. I've taken A&P 1 and 2 online and I love it. You HAVE to be self-motivated and learn it on your own, but there are a lot of tools out there. YouTube was a great help. There are full A&P lectures on there. And the lab portion is just memorization. Lots and lots and lots of memorization lol. I took mine through a community college as a pre-nursing major. All of the nursing programs in my area accept both lecture and lab web courses, but it would be worth it to confirm with the schools in your area.
  10. Love this! I'm going to write it down in my planner somewhere! (I'll quote you lol)
  11. I got in!! Got the email today! One of the most competitive BSN programs in my state and I got in!!
  12. Oh awesome! I can't wait to meet you! I'll yell out "FURRYMOM" at orientation lol
  13. OMG furry! You must be good luck or something because I JUST got my acceptance email!! I'm in!! Good luck to you!!
  14. I called in January to confirm that my application made it there and they said that emails would go out mid to late February. I called again a couple weeks ago (because I'm annoyingly impatient) and she wasn't able to tell me when they would go out, but did say "probably by the first week of March." So we'll see.
  15. Oh yay! Do you check your email every 45 seconds like I do? lol
  16. I don't remember any questions about a microscope on my HESI. Are you talking about the instrument that magnifies things? As far as A&P study, the Elsevier book was a good jumping point, but I suggest hitting up YouTube for some lectures, especially on stuff you don't know really well. I took mine prior to taking A&P II so I focused on studying the systems I hadn't learned yet. Good luck!
  17. Great idea! I'm a mom of a 12, 10, 6, and 3 year old. I'm finishing up my pre-reqs and waiting to hear back from the nursing program I applied to. I'd be down for a Facebook group!
  18. Ugh. That's agony. Good luck to you!
  19. So just me? Good odds!
  20. My BSN program is pretty competitive. Last semester's average was 3.6 GPA and 85 on the HESI (all parts). I have applied but won't hear back until the end of this month. I have a 4.0 and got an 87 on the HESI.
  21. My deadline was January 31 and they'll start sending out emails mid to late this month. It's a highly competitive BSN program. Sixty-four spots and nearly 200 applicants. It's all I can do to not think about it every five minutes, but luckily my A&P II and Micro are keeping me busy. Soon enough!
  22. Hey hey hey! I'm taking my final semester of pre-reqs (YESSS) A&P II Micro Speech All online. Actually all but one of my classes have been online (community college) and I love it so much. I have four kids so the flexibility has been nice. That said, I applied to nursing school for this fall and I'm anxiously waiting to hear- probably mid February. So rattle some chicken bones for me that I get it. I have a 4.0 and got and 87 on my HESI so I feel like my chances are good, but I'm also wildly pessimistic when it comes to this stuff lol.
  23. I know it's way early, but I just dropped my application off at the post office and wanted to see if anyone else was applying to MTSU for next fall. I'm a transfer student from Motlow and have a 4.0. I got an 87 on my HESI, though, so I'm a little worried. I hope my GPA is good enough to offset the composite score and get me accepted.
